Historia
The year is 878, and the Saxons of Wessex, under King Alfred, have defeated the Danes to keep their kingdom free. Uhtred, the dispossessed son of a Northumbrian lord, helped Alfred win that victory, but now he is disgusted by Alfred's lack of generosity. Uhtred flees Wessex, going north to search for his stepsister in the formidable stronghold of Dunholm.

Great story
Revisado: 06-07-22
While listening to each story with great expectations and enthusiastically awaiting the beginning of the next, I am somewhat disappointed with this narrator’s presentation. Most disturbing were the pronunciation of the names of many characters. I was made to wonder, at times, if he had read or listened to any of the previous books in the series. His enthusiasm for outcomes in many of emotional triumphs were flat and the voices of many characters did not match their personalities. Overall though, the story is one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Historia
Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.

Eagerly awaited book 5
Revisado: 02-15-13
How a professional writer can develope characters and themes that captivate a reader and then end a story without completing those characters or themes is beyond me. While Martin is exceptional in setting plots and building excitement and anticipation, the climax of the much awaited Book 5 is much like the puff of a soggy, rain soaked Dragon...

Historia
Over the years, W.E.B. Griffin's stories of the military and police, told with crackling realism and rich characters, have won him millions of fans and acclaim as "the dean of the American war adventure" ( Publishers Weekly). Now he vaults into the present day with a series as exciting as anything he has ever written.

Typical Griffin
Revisado: 02-25-05
I have enjoyed Mr. Griffin's books close to 20 years, my favorite is "The Corp". However, I think he can make the lingo, i.e. simply stating "Bragg" instead of "Ft. Bragg", when soldiers talk among themselves a little more realistic, (we old soldiers would appreciate that) and, the days of "frocking" are long gone (corporal to general in past stories now city cop to secret service, hhhmmmm). Not as exciting as his past books, with a definite lack of "enlisted heroes" but an enjoyable listen.
