Fantastic even if you don't have BPD
Revisado: 06-02-21
I'm not officially diagnosed with BPD but I struggle with self loathing and emotional regulation. This books is so helpful for both those things and more. I think the biggest takeaway from this book for me was the realization that judgements are what caise a pot of pain for humans. Fantastic book I highly recommend!

I loved this book amd want to read it again so I can soak it all in. I love Tara's gentle voice. As I'm working to retrain my brain for self-compassion, Tara's voice is the voice that often comes up for me as the voice of compassion. I love the new tale on RAIN, because nurturing is often what I need and as I go through the RAIN process I feel myself starting to love an accept myself. Thank you Tara for this healing book.

It illustrates the enriching aspects of the so-called negative emotions and helps us achieve the emotional flexibility whereby sadness easily mellows into solace, anger unfolds into laughter, fear evolves into excitement, jealousy opens up into appreciation, and blame gives way to forgiveness.

Historia
The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

I Can't Say Enough Good About this Book
Revisado: 06-23-20
First of all, I LOVED the narrator's voice. It was so soothing to me and to me matched the validating feel of the entire book.
I've read so many books on emotional abuse/neglect in childhood and this by far is the BEST. I thought I had quiet BPD, now I know it's CPTSD. There were so many moments in this book I looked over at my husband and said "It's like he knows me personally!" There are so many good resources in the book, I am definitely buying a hard copy of this book. I want to go through it again and again. I think listening to this has been the most healing thing on my journey yet. Everyone needs this book even if you don't think you do.

So validating!
Revisado: 02-01-20
I never knew a book could make me feel so validated. I feel like I am starting to understand myself and my family more than ever. I appreciate that no one is demonized in the book amd instead you just start to feel compassion for everyone, especially yourself. This book was really helpful for me to see ways I may be acting an emotionally immature parent as well as helped me understand and identify other emotionally immature people. I feel like it helped me identify a lot of unhealthy ways of thinking that I've grown up with and it gave me a lot of good new thought patterns to replace them with. I want to go back and do the exercises now. It also gave me a lot of hope for a happier life! The narration is great as well!

Historia
Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Based on 12 years of pioneering research, Dr. Brené Brown dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and argues that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage. Brown explains how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity.
