Historia
When an elderly priest is murdered, the killer searches the victim so roughly that his already ragged cassock is torn in the process. What was the killer looking for? And what had a dying woman confided to the priest on her deathbed only hours earlier? Mark Easterbrook and his sidekick, Ginger Corrigan, are determined to find out. Maybe the three women who run The Pale Horse public house - and who are rumored to practice the "Dark Arts" - can provide some answers....

Hugh Grant narrates outstanding story
Revisado: 09-08-24
Likes: Hugh Grant knowingly presents characters. Story is interesting and tangled, as light mysteries tend to be!

Historia
A BBC Radio full-cast dramatisation starring June Whitfield as Miss Marple, the deceptively mild spinster sleuth. 'A murder is announced and will take place on Friday, October 29, at Little Paddocks, at 6:30pm. Friends please accept this, the only intimation.' Nestled among the usual notices about dogs for sale and appeals for domestic help, the startling entry in the personal column of the Chipping Cleghorn Gazette has the the entire village agog with curiosity. Is it a game? And who is meant to attend?

You'll never see this coming . . . .
Revisado: 03-07-20
I've read and listened to this story for years. It is such detailed writing, that you'll never see it coming at the end! Characters are exactly as expected in a small town, and some are too self-centered to recognize the harm their doing. Some incidents are a bit shorter in the audio version; howerver, it's a good mystery! Narrator is also very good, even though it's not Hugh Fraser. Quintessential Christie!

Historia
In a remote house in the middle of Dartmoor, six shadowy figures huddle around a table for a seance. Tension rises as the spirits spell out a chilling message: "Captain Trevelyan...dead...murder." Is this black magic or simply a macabre joke? The only way to be certain is to locate Captain Trevelyan. Unfortunately, his home is six miles away and, with snowdrifts blocking the roads, someone will have to make the journey on foot....

Mystery, Humor, Solid Characters, and Hugh Fraser!
Revisado: 03-01-20
The Sittaford Mystery, also appearing in some copies as Murder at Hazelmoor, is a fun and entertaining book to listen to on Audible. As with all Christie books, it is a light murder mystery, one that does not dwell on the grotesque, but rather on the mystery surrounding the characters and the clues. The characters are well-written, and Hugh Fraser's outstanding narration helps to immediately identify their personalities. Emily and Charles bring humor to the book. And, ironically, Inspector Narracott's thoughts provide several red herring chases, each of which help drive the plot. This is a well-rounded story. Remember to listen when each character speaks, no matter how minor! Story line is more interesting than the modern movie. Definitely my favorite Christie book!
