Historia
Few people are aware that John Moses Browning - a tall, humble, cerebral man born in 1855 and raised as a Mormon in the American West - was the mind behind many of the world-changing firearms that dominated more than a century of conflict. He invented the design used in virtually all modern pistols, created the most popular hunting rifles and shotguns, and conceived the machine guns that proved decisive not just in World Wars I and II but nearly every major military action since. Yet few in America knew his name until he was into his 60s.

If you have any interest in guns or just inventing
Revisado: 01-07-23
I knew a decent amount about Browning firearms before listening to this book but I learned and enjoyed learning so much more! The performance was well done. I might be described as a bit of a gun nut but even if you're just interested in history and inventions I think you'll enjoy this book.

Overall very enjoyable
Revisado: 12-25-22
So far I've enjoyed this series. This book was very good. I actually listened to the entire book in less than 2 days. I really hope there will be more books coming in this series. Not the most original concept for a story line but well done. There's a few things here and there that I'm like really but then I remember it's a fictional book and just enjoy the story. A little heavy on describing people's smiles though!

I'm definitely not the target audience for this book because I know and have had several Porsches but I enjoyed hearing his perspective on them. I thought he did quite well especially for his first book. Not very long but I thought about right for the subject. Narrator was good too!

Historia
In 1903 there were only 150 miles of paved roads in the entire nation and most people had never seen a "horseless buggy" - but that did not stop Horatio Nelson Jackson, a 31-year-old Vermont doctor, who impulsively bet $50 that he could drive his 20-horsepower automobile from San Francisco to New York City. Here - in Jackson's own words - is a glorious account of that months-long, problem-beset, thrilling-to-the-rattled-bones trip with his mechanic, Sewall Crocker, and a bulldog named Bud.

Historia
In The Civil War: A Narrative, Vol. 3, Shelby Foote follows the events of the war from 1862 through 1864, discussing the strategies of both the North and the South and assessing the performance of the Union generals. The book opens with the beginning of the two final, major confrontations of the war: Grant against Lee in Virginia and Sherman pressing Johnston in North Georgia. In vivid narrative as seen from both sides, he tells of the climactic struggles, great and small, on and off the field of battle, that finally decided the fate of this nation.

I decided to listen to all three of these again several months after the first because there's so much info that it's helpful to hear it for a second time. as long as you have a passion for history the extremely long listing time doesn't get old.

I enjoyed this book a lot but it's definitely a history book. The author does a great job of giving the listener all the information but its not a "great read". I highly recommend it if you are interested in American history.

I know a lot about the Civil War but still learned quite a bit about General Lee. The only thing that was a little odd and probably wouldn't be if I hadn't listened so quickly was there's lots of repeating of phrases but overall doesn't distract from the book.

Revisado: 09-06-18
A short but interesting look into the life of a pilot in The Great War. At $5 or less I would recommend it. I'm a fan of Steven Coonts and while this isn't like most of his other books it's good. While its hard to say how much of an affect the air war had in WWI its good to be reminded of what those brave men went through.

Through meticulous research, utilizing recently discovered Lincoln letters, legal papers, and photographs, White depicts Lincoln as a person of intellectual curiosity, comfortable with ambiguity, and capable of changing his mind.
