Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children. But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet.

Bad accent
Revisado: 06-25-18
I'm not going to trash the book, because I didn't finish it, but I found the narrator's accent so distracting that I could not focus on the book. Is the character Irish? If not, this was a bad choice for a performer. Try a more neutral British or American accent if you want broad appeal. (and I lived in Ireland for 3 months)

What I Didn't Learn from My Financial Planner but Wish I Had

This book not only challenges what many people think is required to become wealthy, but it exposes the financial planning industry's tactics which are often used to make themselves wealthy at their clients expense. It also poses many questions the author faced at the beginning of his journey to millionaire status, such as "If your financial planner can show you how to become wealthy and live the life of your dreams, then why haven't they done it themselves?"

Like every book there are nuggets of wisdom here, especially if you have never read any type of finance book, but as a whole this is garbage. I was going to give it a neutral rating until the author devotes the whole last chapter to The Secret – a cult book and concept that is been absolutely debunked by the mainstream. It says "just visualize checks coming to you in the mail and they will ". Even Oprah Winfrey apologized for recommending that book so why this author couldn't see right through that bullshit, I don't understand.
All you need to know is: financial planners charge a lot of fees and don't act in your best interest. Pay off your credit cards and go pick up some real books about financial planning. This author quotes Robert Kiyosaki, which is not bad for a true beginner, but you're still better off just listening to Dave Ramsey on the radio… He has some books too. If you really want to understand stocks and bonds… A Random Walk Down Wall Street is a good beginning book, and timeless.
Just be wary of how people rate books… I've read dozens of finance books and have 2 degrees in finance, and this is one of the worst books i've read. I almost put it down, but he kept alluding to some planning techniques he would explain… Which he never did. The only one getting rich from this book, is the author.

This is the ABRIDGED version...
Revisado: 01-17-14
What did you love best about How to Make Money in Stocks?
I happen to have a text version of this book but I wanted to listen to it. At only 4 hours, I was dubious that this was really the unabridged version of this 450 page book. Also, the book has hundreds of stock charts and tables that don't appear to be mentioned in the audio book. Beware, this is NOT an unabridged version. First, pages 1-109 are nothing but stock charts, Pages 112-152 is a section on how to read stock charts. Then what the audio book calls chapter 1, really is starting almost half way through the text book in chapter 3. Granted, you cannot put all of this information in an audio book, and I suspect the audio book has a different version number so they can say he is reading the whole book, but just be aware that you are really just getting an extremely ABRIDGED version of the real text version of the book. Even in chapters 3+, they are leaving out sections of information. Buy both if you must, I think it is worth it. Also, you should subscribe to the Investors Business Daily paper (really cheap) which will screen all these stocks for you, otherwise this book isn't that helpful. IBD also has a video tutorial that captures about 75% of the CANSLIM methodology he covers in this book, if you don't even want to waste 4 hours.
What about Chris Ryan’s performance did you like?
People give him a hard time but he's just your typical narrator. Don't not buy the book because of him. Listen to it at 2x if he's too slow.
