I’ve enjoyed most of the first two books. I have been trying to ignore how similar this story is to the “ BLOOD AND ASH” series. It is a combination of BAA and Beauty and the Beast.
However, I am disappointed that I did not realize how PG this author writes. There are reviewers that complain about authors that include too much graphic sex, however, this author includes NO intimacy. Surely there is a happy medium

Historia
I ran from home to escape heartbreak, only to deliver myself into the hands of a wolf. Henry Wolf, that is. Heir to a luxury hotel chain, infamous playboy, arrogant bastard...and my new boss. Why he wants me, Abbi Mitchell - a girl who lacks experience on every front that would matter to him - as his personal assistant, I cannot fathom, especially when I keep messing up in the most spectacular way. Did I already mention he's a bastard? A beautiful, moody one, who's quick to demand, slow to apologize. And toying with me every chance he gets.

🌻Too stupid to continue 🌻
Revisado: 04-22-25
🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻
I tried, I really did, but there were too many flaws that I couldn’t overlook.
First, this is an age gap romance. I’m cool with that. They are eleven years apart and that’s really no big deal, EXCEPT, their maturity difference is more like an adult having sex with a child. Abby acts more like 13 year old than a 21 year old adult.
In addition, Mr Wolf, her boss has a history of inappropriate relationships with his subordinates. He’s the worst kind of asshole. He uses his position to get women to do his bidding.
It’s not the fact that it is a forbidden, workplace sexual relationship, it’s that it’s only sex and Henry takes advantage of Abby’s lack of life experience. He’s a 32 year old man and he doesn’t even stop to consider that Abby’s feelings will get hurt. Abby is a virgin (of course) and she has only ever had a single relationship with the Pastor’s son, from her small town.
He inner dialogue is too ridiculous and I kept finding myself fast forwarding through huge chunks of the book because her inner dialogue was too stupid.
I finally just stopped listening because I just couldn’t take it anymore.

This Novella was ok, I guess. I honestly don’t think it is a necessity, for the series. There is not a lot that really happens. There is a glimpse of Tomlin and how utterly depressed he has become. He is completely alone in his manor. He doesn’t even have any servants to care for him. He has almost destroyed the entire manor with his fits of rage. I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him, even though his current circumstances are due to actions of his own. I found the whole thing rather depressing.
As far as their fragile peace, it holds, for now but, it is evident that a storm is rising again.
Even though I have purchased the next book, I’m not all that excited to start it after reading the reviews. I’m afraid we have heard the best of the series, in the first books of the series.

Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

🌻🌻Another author to add to my list!🌻🌻
Revisado: 02-28-25
🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
I have had a list of authors that have been my “go to” authors , for years. Unfortunately, they are not keeping up with my listening habits. Therefore, I’ve been rolling the dice with some different authors, lately.
This book was pretty darn good. There were a lot of interesting characters and the plot was unique; which is a blessing. So many authors are basically writing the same story with there just being name changes.
There were a few places, in the book, that dragged, a little. However, that is pretty much a given with any book as long as this one.
There were very few steamy scenes and the ones there were, did not drag out too long. Actually, I prefer a bit more steam but, there are lots of consumers that the intimate scenes take away from the story.
There are some descriptive violent battles but, they also didn’t continue overly long.
Overall, this was a well rounded book with great narration. It was definitely a credit worthy listen.

🌻Much better than the last book🌻
Revisado: 11-16-24
🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
This book is a bridge between the original BDB series and the Prison Camp series. There are two relationships explored, in this book, Callum(the Wolven) and Apex and Mayham and a new female character.
Callum and Apex’s story started in the Prison Camp series. Callum had be physically and sexually abused, and nearly died, at the hands of the woman who ran the Prison. Apex stays at Callum’s side during Callum’s recovery, however, when Apex is gone one day, Callum disappears without a word. This book start thirty years after that event when they stumble across each other, again.
Although this book does not have the long, detailed courtship of the early novels, this book seems complete, where the previous did not.
The enemy is not Lessors, this time, but rather the new glimmera that has formed.
I was glad to finally experience the resolution of Callum and Apex’s story.
With that being said, I was very confused with the author’s summary. The summary did not describe this book, at all?

I was starting to lose hope, in this series. The first two books had little to do with a shifter community. I kept hoping that once RZ introduced the world, that would change; and it did.
This book included intimate workings, in a pack. There were several interesting pack members that were introduced, and of course, a mystery to solve and some villains to slay.
There was also an Alpha and a reluctant mate, some steamy scenes and a laugh or two along the way. Everything a lover of paranormal romance wants!

This book ended, more realistic, than the last book. I was relieved because I’ve really enjoyed this series.
This book was told only through the perspective of Anna. I think it would be interesting to get to experience Aiden’s POV. I can only imagine what he must be thinking about his train wreck of a girlfriend.

This book wasn’t quite as entertaining as the other linked series. For one thing, this couple only had a single book to tell their story. As a result, the ending was rushed. The last 3 or 4 chapters spans months of time. It was like SA didn’t have the time or the desire to finish the book and was a bit of a let down.

Revisado: 10-11-24

This book was a disappointment. This couple went from avoiding each other to bonding and declaring their love in 48 hours. Their only obstacles were getting Z to accept their relationship and his old hang up on Raven and his ability to open up about his past. He decides to be upfront and honest within a couple of hours and Z gets over his hang up within in minutes of their first confrontation.
JR Ward obviously wasn’t in to writing this book. I hope this attitude doesn’t mark the beginning of the end, of this series 😭.
