Great!

Loved it! It most definitely did not disappoint! Storyline is entertaining and drew me into it along with the well developed characters. Yes you can guess what some of the very basic things that will happen just like every other book you read. But you won’t guess how it all happens. I’m on to the 3rd one as I can’t wait.

Historia
Imagine a London where magic is real...real, but feared. This is Eliza Braxton's London, and she has always accepted her place in it gladly. As one of the Riftborn, her magic has relegated her to the servant class, where she dutifully serves as the lady's maid in one of the most powerful households in the country. There, she uses her remarkable powers of persuasion to keep Elder Hallewell's rebellious daughter in the path to an arranged match of power and prosperity. Eliza has never questioned her loyalty...until now.

Wonderful Story
Revisado: 02-10-25
Loved this book and looking forward to reading the next one. At first I thought the narrator sounded odd but then her voice seemed to fit the story like a glove. Like being told a fairy tale as a bedtime story her voice seemed to fit the Victorian hush hush secrets of the servants staying in the background. With secrets of “good and proper women” of the times so as to not be heard by the men that think they make the rules knowing and controlling it all - when they don’t have a clue.
Love the stitching together of historical like setting with the fantasy world of rebels with magical powers. Going to start the second one right now!

Historia
When a traveling show of impressionist art comes to Nags Head, North Carolina, librarian Lucy and the staff at the Bodie Island Lighthouse Library are inspired to create an educational display about art history. Their launch of the display is a huge success, but the morning after, they discover that a reproduction of a famous painting has gone missing. No one knows why anyone would bother stealing it: the picture is of no value—the real, priceless painting is under lock and key at the art show itself.

Cozy, Fun, Positive Stories and Characters
Revisado: 01-12-25
This series is fun and perfect cozy mysteries. I’ve learned all sorts of tidbits of knowledge on history, art, about the area the stories take place, and good tips on authors and books I’ve listened to after they mention them in the books. Light and fun for listening to while in the car or at home. Appropriate for pretty much any age group too.

Great Stories and Storytelling Awesome Narrators.
Revisado: 12-24-24
My absolute favorite in this series is the different characters have their own separate narrator. All the stories play out like updated radio programs. Always great stories and mysteries solved with a continuing store in the background making it one that I always look forward to the next year. Love it!

LOVE IT!!
Revisado: 05-13-24
I love Jenny Lawson’s books! They are so REAL and you can relate to her so much. Especially for those of us with Invisible Disabilities (Illnesses or Diseases whichever you feel is the most appropriate for you). I think it’s a must read for anyone struggling with mental health issues or disabilities and trying to get through each day, trying to fit into this world’s view of “normal”. I also recommend the 2 other books she’s written. They make you laugh just as much if not more than this one.
I just finished listening to this book for the 2nd time because I needed it more than any other books I usually would enjoy. My mother recently passed away and this was my 1st Mother’s Day without her. I knew that this book would make me smile and even laugh and maybe forget just for a little while that I have a whole in my life that hurts more than my chronic pain which she helped me get through. If this book can make me feel better for a bit then it can make anyone at least smile or even laugh out loud a time or two.

Historia
Desperate to escape from London, single mother Zoe wants to build a new life for herself and her four-year-old son Hari. She can barely afford the crammed studio apartment on a busy street where shouting football fans keep them awake all night. Hari’s dad, Jaz, a charismatic but perpetually broke DJ, is no help at all. But his sister, Surinder, comes to Zoe’s aid, hooking her up with a job as far away from the urban crush as possible: a bookshop on the banks of Loch Ness. And there’s a second job to cover housing: Zoe will be an au pair at a castle in the Scottish Highlands.

I LOVE Her Books!
Revisado: 03-25-24
This one is just as good as all the other’s Jenny Colgan’s books. I’m not sure if I have a favorite but this one is so real to life, you can easily get into the characters and story and feel what they feel. It’s one you’ll stay up late listening to when you really should be going to sleep but maybe just a few minutes more…
