Loved this minus a few tidbits
Revisado: 02-24-20
I loved so much of what Chrystal has to say and her encouragement but I could have done without the diet talk. It’s not a spiritual issue and Fat doesn’t need to be made a sin

Historia
In January 2019, culture writer Anne Helen Petersen set the internet on fire with her viral BuzzFeed essay diagnosing “millennial burnout” - a chronic state of stress and exhaustion that’s become a “base temperature” for young people today. Now, she continues this generation-defining conversation in a brand-new format, interviewing millennials around the country about their own deeply personal experiences with burnout, and the culture that creates it.

Looking forward to the book!
Revisado: 01-14-20
This was such a relevant and actually reassuring piece. As a millennial her assertion that validating the experiences we have is part of the healing connected very deeply to me.
This whole piece is great but I loved the section where she talked with John and how he’s learning to change the system in tangible ways. I hope when she writes this book that there is more of that type of content.

Historia
Talking about race means naming the reality of white privilege and hierarchy. How do we talk about race honestly, then, without making our children feel bad about being white? Most importantly, how do we do any of this in age-appropriate ways? While a great deal of public discussion exists in regard to the impact of race and racism on children of color, meaningful dialogue about and resources for understanding the impact of race on white children are woefully absent. Raising White Kids steps into that void.

A must read
Revisado: 04-01-19
This is such an amazing place to begin for anyone wanting to engage in anti racism work. Yes this is about raising children and how do parents go about that in our world, but the concepts she outlines are universal. The way she goes about it is also clear and direct but simple while explaining why other tactics have been ineffective.
Seriously white folks: read this!

Should be mandatory reading for all white Christians
Revisado: 02-04-19
This book was powerful and emotional. I sat with my stomach in my throat for so much of it. I stared into the face of the times I thought I was helping but was only making it worse. I heard a sister in Christ ask for us to do better. I’m going to try and I’m going to fail, but I’m going to keep trying. Maybe not all white people, but this white person will

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

Wonderfully magical
Revisado: 05-13-16
This is one of my favorites and I frequently Reread it often because it has such a charm and mystical feeling throughout. It is woven together so subtly and yet it all works the way it should. Beautiful delivery too, though the mans voice over female pieces was very different as I read the whole thing with a woman's voice and expected that.
Still magical and I will listen again and again
