Eve is a flaming liberal who finds fault in EVERYTHING that doesn’t meet her warped heart full of hate! She wants her boyfriend, but she doesn’t. She has a TV series, that she HATES and you never hear the end of how much she hates it. Regardless that it provides jobs, a mini mansion for herself and security for her family AND that this could have been a sounding board she should have embraced to build a platform for women’s voices against violence. But no! It’s all about her feeling and not facts. Then she narks on the deputy that works for the rich community keeping law and order because he didn’t do it the way SHE wanted it done! Ugh. Then continues to talk about the rent discount he gets, calling it a kickback. She has become so ANNOYING. I’d flip her off too if I had to work with whiny liberal ass. This is the last book I’m ever investing in with this series. Awful.

Really, most people don’t care who you love. It’s hard enough to go thru this world so when pot meets lid - go for it. That being said, the main character is constantly shoving her love of a woman as a lesbian in your face. We get it. You’re a lesbian. Move on. Okay, next or most favorite topic is that’s she’s biracial. Big deal. We all are. But no. Being a woman of color everyone is racist. Including her white father. Next, the bad guys. Guess what they are? You got it. White racists. Including a group of Aryans, which got killed off. Good. No one likes them anyway. The story also feeds right into a page out of the pulse nightclub when her girlfriend gets shot in a gay bar. A Texas governor who is so out of touch with Americans that a coup is staged to kill him. Good. I stopped listening after that as I ended the story with my own ending - with them all dying. But I’m sure it doesn’t end that way as this is the first in a series. That I won’t be buying. Even if it was free. Waste of money.

Where was the author’s input on this narration? I’d think if you put your heart and soul in creation of a thriller story, you’d want the listener to enjoy it. And the director? Where was that person? Did the director even listen to one chapter and say STOP, you’re fired. I had to slow down the narration as this adderal driven performance was impossible to understand. The narrator has no idea what a common, period, paragraph, parentheses, exclamation mark or question mark means. Not to mention pronunciation. I had to stop the narration so many times just to count to 10 to get past the anger of this blatant ignorance. There was zero change in character voice for the characters. I’m sure the story would be interesting if it was read, but the point of audible is just that. To listen and enjoy. And I bought the series and notice this train wreck also narrates the 2nd story. Which I’m going to pass on. This series needs to be redone and purchasers should be allowed the new copy for free. What a colossal waste of money.

This is the 16th book in this series, and by far, the most disappointing. The characters, most of them, lacked depth - which is so unlike the rest of this series. I mean the villains, really? What was the reasoning behind the military bad dude. And speaking of that - the serial. Man. Weak. The other main characters that are in most books, were barely discussed at all. The only plus is same narrator throughout series, and does a spot on job as always. I’m sure he was like....WTH is this?

Wow. This book is. Awful. Main character so brutally raped he’s all hoot over a cop. She ignores her sister’s calls constantly, even though she’s concerned that the serial rapist will get her too! Then answer the damn phone and tell her. Then her sister gets caught by the rapist and now she’ll answer the phone. So bad, all around. The story line couldn’t even save it because it was all over the place. Just bad and gross..
