Historia
The fourth book in the NYT best-selling Expanse series, Cibola Burn sees the crew of the Rocinante on a new frontier, as the rush to colonize the new planets threatens to outrun law and order and give way to war and chaos. Enter a new frontier. "An empty apartment, a missing family, that's creepy. But this is like finding a military base with no one on it. Fighters and tanks idling on the runway with no drivers. This is bad juju. Something wrong happened here. What you should do is tell everyone to leave".

OK relative to Abaddon but still awesome
Revisado: 01-25-18
The story line is a little weird and gets into those shadows of sci-fi that sometimes gets hard to explain. Trying not to give away any spoilers, the climax becomes very forced and did not feel organic to me. The conflict with the corporation and Rocinante is fun to read. With one getting an upper hand over the other and back and forth.
Some of the physics gets too wonky with tethering ships and bubble tunnels in space. It felt like the authors wrote themselves into a corner and did not find a good way to end this book. Dont get me wrong, it was still an awesome read but I did not care too much how they closed all the story lines.
All the crazy things that happen on the planet was edge of seat stuff. Good character development as well. Good sci-fi for new world stuff. If you liked books like Aurora by Kim Robinson, you will enjoy this book.
Narration is excellent and the consistent with other books.

Historia
The second book in the NYT best-selling Expanse series, Caliban's War shows a solar system on the brink of war, and the only hope of peace rests on James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante's shoulders. We are not alone. On Ganymede, breadbasket of the outer planets, a Martian marine watches as her platoon is slaughtered by a monstrous supersoldier. On Earth, a high-level politician struggles to prevent interplanetary war from reigniting. And on Venus, an alien protomolecule has overrun the planet, wreaking massive, mysterious changes.

Brilliant follow up to Leviathan Wakes
Revisado: 12-07-17
One more of the detective sci-fi like the first one. Looking for a missing girl again this time. There are some plot holes in the story but on the whole the book is amazing.
Bobby, Avarasala, Prax are great POV too. I would love to read Bobby and Avarasala POV later in the series.
This series has turned out to be more fun than I expected and it keeps getting better.

Historia
The alien artifact working through its program under the clouds of Venus has appeared in Uranus's orbit, where it has built a massive gate that leads to a starless dark. Jim Holden and the crew of the Rocinante are part of a vast flotilla of scientific and military ships going out to examine the artifact. But behind the scenes, a complex plot is unfolding, with the destruction of Holden at its core. As the emissaries of the human race try to find whether the gate is an opportunity or a threat, the greatest danger is the one they brought with them.

Excitement & thrill reading this book doesn't die
Revisado: 12-07-17
I looked forward to reading (listening) this book every day. I would pick up chores and things to listen in. What an exciting world the authors have created? I felt engaged throughout the book. The new characters POV start slow but they become more interesting than the Rocinante crew.
The whole idea of a wormhole that can lead to multiple worlds opens up so many possibilities...Great writing and narration was well done too.

Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

So glad I read it again in my 30's
Revisado: 10-03-17
I read this when I was a kid and could not digest the implications and the meaning of this book as a whole. Reading it now, makes so much of an impact and you understand the author's sense of urgency. Really well written with a good story underneath. The premise does not feel so far fetched anymore. The writer definitely saw the power of governance gone wrong early in his career and transformed into an anxiety inducing book.
Thank you Orwell.
The narrator did an amazing job to describe the anxiety in every character's persona.

Historia
The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob - featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter. Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct.

A downhill ending to a (somewhat) good series
Revisado: 10-03-17
This series had a lot of promise from the first book, then second got slower and now the final installment is such a downer. I couldn't wait to finish this book. It started off with un-relatable and mostly 'don't care about them' characters and slow in action. With a relatively smaller book, I would expect the action to start early and stay on it. The book wanders around trying to end all the story lines. The Others are given hardly few chapters and finished in no time.
Very disappointing and anti-climactic end. Some stories ended ok but some were just ramblings. With so many stories going on with good potential, this last book was a rush and a waste of a series. The writing got real sloppy in this installment. It felt like the writer just wanted to finish the series and get on with something else. I couldn't tell which clone was the author talking about. It felt like he was all over the place. The end was so quick and so un-entertaining. I wish there was more to it.
The narrator did an excellent job till the end.

Excellent story, characters and very smart writing
Revisado: 09-13-17
I'm so glad I started this series. The writers have done a great job setting up the world and its protagonists. It does not feel campy at all like some sci-fi. It definitely has a feeling of epic-ness to it. It can expand into so many well done characters and vast universe. Writing is smart and adventurous too. Highly recommend it to readers of GoT and Hyperion. The exploration of the world could be compared to Hyperion series. In the first book, there was not too much depth to the characters yet but a good start.
The narration works well with the characters and the plot. I liked the transition from one character to another.
Definitely looking forward to the TV series too.

Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

Smart utopian future with...
Revisado: 09-13-17
Un-relatable characters and un-engaging story. The future is very well developed and it gives some hope to all the dystopian novels around. But that hope is short lived and Huxley clearly shows how living a smart and happy life with no access to negative emotions can be destructive and shallow. With the current state of technology and medicine, I do not doubt that Huxley's future can be somewhat correct. A soma-inducing happiness with detachment is already there with not exactly in the same form as described in the book.
The plot was not so well written and the characters had no depth. Maybe that was the point of Huxley to show that people will have no depth to their emotions and personality and thus there would be no attachment and no reason to stay with a single individual. the Savage character was more annoying than sympathetic.
The narration was whiny and not fun to listen to.

Classic (short) and trippy
Revisado: 07-14-17
This book has its moments where it starts blabbering like a trippy radio station. Why is it so short? It felt shorter than a short story. there is not much of character development. The story moves on really fast. The onus is more on the idea of destroying knowledge and making humans happy with brain dead entertainment. Story with the idea would have been better.
I expected narration to be top notch but Tim Robbins cannot do woman noises very well. It all came out whiny and annoying. Maybe their characters were suppose to be but he added something extra to it.

Starts slow but action's not too far
Revisado: 07-14-17
The first book takes off pretty quick but this one takes longer to warm up. Things start spinning quick but not enough for the length of this book. The story with the deltans is so interesting since it resonates with theories of early humans and aliens interacting. The story with androids looking like humans is just sci-fi fun. The settlement colonies have their own action going on. The drama on earth with terrorists is gripping. This book is packed with action. That's why I think these books need to be longer to do all these short stories more in detail.
Narration is fantastic, very well done with humor. I would definitely want to listen to these series than read it.

Smart concept well executed
Revisado: 07-14-17
The concept of this series is so exciting and brilliant, that I thought it would fall off after a good start but the author managed to keep it afloat and raise it higher and higher. Every clone manage to spin off its own short story. Definitely a series to watch out for.
narration is spot on. It's done so well that it feels like reading this book would be less fun.
