Historia
In 1954, 63-year-old Maine farmer Annie Wilkins embarked on an impossible journey. She had no money and no family, she had just lost her farm, and her doctor had given her only two years to live. But Annie wanted to see the Pacific Ocean before she died. She ignored her doctor’s advice to move into the county charity home. Instead, she bought a cast-off brown gelding named Tarzan, donned men’s dungarees, and headed south in mid-November, hoping to beat the snow.

An Extraordinary Feat
Revisado: 02-13-25
I really loved this story. Many have said that it could have been condensed into a short story. But I disagree, I feel shortening. It would have been contrary to the fact that this woman in her 60s spent 18 months riding from Maine to California a story that in and of itself is not short. If not, for this being a true story, I would have thought that this book, if it were written as a novel, was ridiculous, unrealistic, unbelievable. The fact that this woman, Annie Wilkins, really did set out from Rural Maine as an inexperienced rider, unwell, and penniless, to ride a horse across the nation in modern times is nothing short of surreal. Without giving anymore away, I encourage you readers to go ahead and embark on this extraordinary and unbelievable journey with Annie, Tarzan, and Depeche Toi.

I love how the story wound and curled through the ages like rings of smoke rising from a an old man’s pipe. Such a cleverly written story.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Heartwarming And beautiful
Revisado: 07-14-23
By far the best book/story, I’ve read in decades. From the very first word I loved this story, so much so, that I couldn’t put it down yet didn’t want it to end. I listened to this book on audible, but I will be purchasing a hardcopy to put in my permanent library. This one is a keeper.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. A Remarkable Work of literature
Revisado: 09-11-20
This is the second book I have read by these two authors. I read their works in reverse order, having read Eliza Hamilton‘s story first. The story that they have written portraying Patsy Jefferson is equally remarkable as they are portrayal of Eliza Hamilton. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

A Favorite
Revisado: 09-01-20
This book quickly became one of my top five favorite books of all time. It is written so beautifully. I loved hearing this rendition of our nation’s history told from Eliza Hamilton’s perspective. Not only is the story wonderful, the narration by Cassandra Campbell is as good as any theater production! She truly captivates the listener with her pristine character portrayals. She is also my favorite narrator. I hated for this book to end!
