Historia
Before Chipper Jones became an eight-time All-Star who amassed Hall of Fame-worthy statistics during a 19-year career with the Atlanta Braves, he was just a country kid from small-town Pierson, Florida. A kid who grew up playing baseball in the backyard with his dad, dreaming that one day he'd be a major league ballplayer. With his trademark candor and astonishing recall, Chipper Jones tells the story of his rise to the MLB ranks and what it took to stay with one organization his entire career in an era of booming free agency.

Insightful & Fun Going on the Journey
Revisado: 04-10-25
I don’t remember Chipper Jones, likely because I was an Astros & Diamondback fan. But listening to his story was very interesting and I enjoyed learning about the challenges being a big league player, team dynamics, etc.

Another fantastic book in the series. I don’t know how David J. Gatward does it time after time, but he does. And to make it even better, the narration is perfect. Looking forward to the next release.

Historia
As much as master roaster Clare Cosi adores coffee, the landmark shop she manages won't survive if she doesn't sell enough of it. So when the Village Blend's customer traffic grinds to a halt, she turns to her staff for creative ideas, and the Writer's Block Lounge is born. Madame, the eccentric octogenarian owner of the shop, is upset by this news. Years ago, a group of accomplished writers used the shop's second-floor lounge to inspire each other, but the group disbanded when something dark occurred. Though that history is shrouded in mystery, Clare presses forward . . .

Another Great Book in the Series
Revisado: 04-06-25
I was excited to preorder ‘No Roast for the Weary’ to be released on 4/1/25. I just finished listening to book 21 and am once again reminded how much I love Claire & the gang.
I found this series late and binge listened book 1 - book 20 without listening to other books. Grateful the series has continued.

Historia
Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

A great story that holds your interest and at times creates anxiety as the action intensifies and the wait for relief is slow in coming. A perfect blend of push and pull. And the narration is superb.

Not my favorite in the series
Revisado: 02-14-25
It was great hearing from characters that I have grown to love. TO ME, this book wasn't as enjoyable as the rest in the series. I didn’t feel a connection with the characters or the story outcome. Maybe I got too wrapped up in how the narrator seemed to be reading the words rather than performing the story. Not sure what was different this time.
Despite this, I remain a huge fan of the series, and all of Tonya Kappas’ series.

Historia
Murder is not her department. It’s not like it used to be. Modern-day grim reapers wear business casual, not black cloaks, and they don’t carry scythes, they work for S. C. Y. T. H. E. (Secure Collection, Yielding, and Transportation of Human Essences), where the Department of Natural Causes is the least exciting gig. And that’s how Kathy Valence likes it: boring and predictable. She has enough stress in her personal life; she’s mid-divorce, pregnant, and terrified she doesn’t have what it takes to be a good mom. Then, she goes to pick up a new client and finds his soul is missing.

I have no idea why I chose this book. It is outside of my regular genres, but my goodness I am so glad I did. The story was intriguing, humorous, and kept my attention throughout.
I highly recommend this book, it is well worth reading / listening to. The narration is full of life adding to the great story. I hope there is a book 2 coming soon.

Might be my FAVORITE
Revisado: 11-08-24
I don’t know how Jana DeLeon does it, but this is another fabulous book. The plot is deep, rich, and full of characters that I have experienced in life, especially when I lived in New Orleans.
The entire series is terrific. The only down side is that I listened to all 25 books back to back which makes waiting for new releases difficult. Fortunately, DeLeon is a prolific writer so new stories are released regularly. Now though, I have to wait for the next release.

Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.

Once again a great story
Revisado: 04-24-24
Another great story from Lucy Foley with a brilliant cast of narrators bringing the story to life. However, unlike the other novels by this author, I found myself wanting the story to move forward more quickly. Especially the last 3 hours. Not that the writing wasn’t as excellent or exciting, I was just ready for the story to be over. Regardless, I recommend it to others who like well written and complex plots in their books.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Unexpectedly Terrific
Revisado: 04-20-24
I downloaded this book on a whim and I am so glad I did. It was wonderful. The story was thoughtful, intriguing, fun, with characters who clearly had chemistry with each other. I will look for more books by Brynn Kelly.
The dual narration was excellent and gave me the ability to feel like I was watching a movie.
Personal note: In every book I read or listen too, I always walk away with a personal insight. This book has opened my eyes to my tendency to live in fear and shrink back from living my best life. Now I have a new way to approach life. Thank you Brynn Kelly.
