Historia
In 1960, an upstart Pittsburgh Pirates team beat the highly favored New York Yankees in the World Series. Given the power of a Yankee roster that included Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, and Yogi Berra, that improbably victory did more than give long-suffering Pirates fans something to cheer about; it put Pittsburgh on the map. Though John Moody was only six years old during that magical baseball season, he was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh team. The star pitcher for the Pirates and John's first hero was Vernon Law - an unsophisticated Idaho country boy, widely known as The Deacon, a friendly nickname derived from his strict Mormon upbringing.

Great Baseball Book!
Revisado: 09-19-21
Honestly, this was a great read! I’m a die hard A’s fan. I’m 46 years old. So 1960 was before my time, but I really enjoyed the book. It was fun to hear the author talk about his boyhood hero. Vernon Law was quite the player! And that Pirates team was a lot of fun to learn about.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Highly recommend!
Revisado: 09-28-20
I just finished Candace Owen’s new book. Highly recommend it! It’s about taking responsibility for your own actions—don’t expect anyone to make it happen for you. If you focus on you being a victim, it will just cripple you from achieving your own successes. If you try to find excuses to why you aren’t finding success, you will only keep yourself from figuring out what you need to do to find solutions to problems and to recognizing opportunities that are in front of you.
