Historia
For as long as ZJ can remember, his dad has been everyone's hero. As a charming, talented pro football star, he's as beloved to the neighborhood kids he plays with as he is to his millions of adoring sports fans. But lately life at ZJ's house is anything but charming. His dad is having trouble remembering things and seems to be angry all the time. ZJ's mom explains it's because of all the head injuries his dad sustained during his career.

Sad but Beautiful
Revisado: 09-20-20
This is a beautifully sad book about the effects of CTE on an athlete and his family, specifically his young son. The story is told from son's point of view. Jacqueline Woodson's writing is spot on and you can feel both the love and the despair throughput the book. Guy Lockard did a great job narrating. I highly recommend you give it a listen.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Not for me
Revisado: 09-20-20
I grew up in a costal area of the south and reading this book felt like a trip home. The author beautifully described the time and place. I could hear the crickets and see the lightening bugs in my mind. That said, this book was not for me. It's just not in me to be able to enjoy a book where a child is so neglected and abandoned. I know many who have read this book and really enjoyed it but it just wasn't for me.

An okay story, but what did we really learn?

An Enjoyable Memoir
Revisado: 09-06-20
Stewart Copeland and his brother and sister look back fondly at their lives growing up in Lebanon when their father worked for the CIA. A nice listen while I commuted to work.

Historia
Galadrielle Allman went to her first concert as an infant in diapers, held in her teenage mother’s arms. Playing was her father - Duane Allman, who would become one of the most influential and sought-after musicians of his time. Just a few short years into his remarkable career, he was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 24. His daughter was two years old. Galadrielle was raised in the shadow of his loss and his fame. It took her many years to accept that his life and his legacy were hers, and when she did, she began to ask for stories - from family, fellow musicians, friends - and they began to flow.

long time fan
Revisado: 01-10-15
Would you listen to Please Be with Me again? Why?
this is a book i would listen to again because there was so much detail.
Who was your favorite character and why?
duane allman was a super talented musician who died much too young. he was a complicated person, not just a star. this book really paints a picture of the whole person, not just the guitar magician.
What about Galadrielle Allman’s performance did you like?
Galadrielle told this story from the heart.
Any additional comments?
This is one of the best books I have read on the Allman Brothers Band and Duane Allman.
