Crisp sentences, sly humor, surprising twists and turns, and immensely engaging characters make these books a deeply rewarding listen. Again and again the cleverness, unexpected developments, and character perspectives made me laugh out loud in delight. The narrator is a perfect match for the text, mining the understated comedy in the story.

This book is both poetic and gripping, an indelible portrait of four adolescent girls in all their vulnerability and beauty as they try to find their way to adulthood. The narration wonderfully reveals layers of meaning and emotion in the language.
