Historia
On the day he retires, Inspector Ashwin Chopra inherits two unexpected mysteries. The first is the case of a drowned boy, whose suspicious death no one seems to want solved. And the second is a baby elephant. As his search for clues takes him across the teeming city of Mumbai, from its grand high rises to its sprawling slums and deep into its murky underworld, Chopra begins to suspect that there may be a great deal more to both his last case and his new ward than he thought.

Delightful listen!
Revisado: 06-19-23
A fascinating journey through present-day Mumbai with an excellent guide, an author who clearly knows and loves the city. Serious topics add substance and weight to a charming story with memorable characters. I look forward to listening to the rest of the series!

Historia
Gadsby grew up as the youngest of five children in Tasmania, where homosexuality was illegal until 1997. After moving to mainland Australia and receiving a degree in art history, they found themselves adrift, working itinerant jobs and enduring years of isolation punctuated by homophobic and sexual violence. When Gadsby was twenty-seven, a friend encouraged them to enter a stand-up competition. They won, and so began their career in comedy.

Brilliant!
Revisado: 02-11-23
Hannah Gadsby is a treasure. Her vulnerability, courage, fierce honesty, fresh insights, and the meaning she makes out of her experiences
— both traumas and joys — make this a rich and essential listening pleasure. There is such wisdom here, in her exploration of the creative process and in simply how to get on with being human.

Historia
It is an ordinary Thursday, and things should finally be returning to normal. Except trouble is never far away where the Thursday Murder Club are concerned. A decade-old cold case—their favorite kind--leads them to a local news legend and a murder with no body and no answers. Then a new foe pays Elizabeth a visit. Her mission? Kill or be killed. Suddenly the cold case has become red hot.

Another delightful listen!
Revisado: 12-20-22
Crisp sentences, sly humor, surprising twists and turns, and immensely engaging characters make these books a deeply rewarding listen. Again and again the cleverness, unexpected developments, and character perspectives made me laugh out loud in delight. The narrator is a perfect match for the text, mining the understated comedy in the story.

Gorgeous writing, gorgeous reading!
Revisado: 03-07-18
This book is both poetic and gripping, an indelible portrait of four adolescent girls in all their vulnerability and beauty as they try to find their way to adulthood. The narration wonderfully reveals layers of meaning and emotion in the language.
