I liked the story, but not the narration

The narrator almost made me quit listening, his voice had way too much inflection with every single sentence. Almost like every sentence was new an profound idea. I got used to it eventually, but it was really annoying. Other than that, I like the story.

I really enjoyed this book! I can't say for sure what I liked so much about it; the two stories running simultaneously, one from the past and one current; the characters; the mysterious twists; the tiny bit of romance.... they all made it what it is! It was a little bit predictable, but I did not predict the final ending.

I listened at an increased speed, but that is common for me.

One thing is for sure, the narration was excellent, it made the story come alive! Bravo! My only complaint is that one of the narrators voice was much quieter than the others voice, so I had to keep changing the volume. Not a huge deal though.

Some reviews comment on it being a young adult book. I thought that was fine, but I can see where they are coming from, and since I have never experienced the intense friendship that is apparent between the characters, so some of it was a little cheesy to me, but it was all part of the story and I didn't mind it.

I am bummed that Jennifer doesn't have very many novels, and no other audio books. Hopefully she comes out with more soon!

I enjoyed this story. When it first started I wasn't sure, but it got me hooked really quick. I had to listen on 1.25 speed because the narration was a little slow for my liking, but that's common for me. There were some very interesting twists in the story. Right when I thought I knew where the story was going, there was an unexpected twist! I felt like the author must have really been through a lot in his life to give so much detail on some of the unpleasant aspects of the book, making everything so believable, like you were in the head of some of the characters. Interestingly at the end, the Author discusses the fact that everything was made up (although some was taken from stories on the news). Bravo, Eli Cranor, keep up the good work, I can't wait for more!

I wish I had known this was going to be mostly about football, and not about the mystery in the description. After 2.5 hours of listening and waiting for something to happen, I gave up.

I really enjoyed this book. I have read other' reviews complaining about the narrator's accent; I was able to get used to it pretty quickly and there were only a very few times they actually spoke Welsh in the book, which they then explained. Other reviews also mention too much detail with the characters, but I actually really enjoyed that, it kept it interesting and made me feel like I got to know all of the people/suspects of The Shore. the details on the various characters were essential to the way this story was written. The story kept me guessing until the end. I'd think I figured out the murderer, then something new would come up. I was surprised by the final result. I'd recommend this book!

Focuses on buying cheap items not dealing w a baby

This book was pretty bad, I couldn't even get past chapter 2. She contradicts herself many times, and all she seems to do is want the reader to buy cheap things to save money. Not informative at all on parenting a newborn.

At one point she said something about smoking NOT being bad for you normally, but you should quit while you're pregnant! Really? We've known smoking is bad for us for decades!

She assumes people just want to buy cheap items. She says buy only cotton items because they are cheap and they WILL get ruined, and you can just throw them away then because they were cheap. And name brand items are not any better quality than "regular" items, and are useless and a waste of money. But then she turns around and says that you should ONLY get a new crib (but doesn't say why). If you have to get a used crib, it should only be from a family member. And get a bassinet, and make sure it is JPAM (but doesn't explain that). Buy a stroller and make sure you spend the extra money because you need to have one that has a detachable bassinet, and is light and folds easily. (aren't those just preferences???) She says to invest in a good monitor, but don't rely on it, always keep the baby close (then why get a monitor?).

I didn't find a single helpful tip in the 1.5 chapters I listened to. Even her breastfeeding tips were not tips.

There are better books out there, I'd recommend you save your money and get one of those.

I wanted to like it, but I couldn't even finish it. It was slow and very very repetitive, stating the same thing multiple times. It would recap things that happened like we didn’t already read what happened. I tried fast forwarding 20 chapters and the same thing was still going on. Not for me. if you like a fast moving story, skip this one.
