Answering the Call
Revisado: 04-23-25
I grew up reading and watching science fiction, and as young teen I wondered where the representation for Christians existed in these secular offerings. This novel dives into that imagination. What will Christianity look like in two or three hundred years, should the Lord tarry? How will the world react to ever increasing religious extremism?
Above the Circle of the Earth dives into these and other futuristic topics with relish. There is no doubt this is a Christian novel, AND it is an excellent science fiction read as well. The story is fast paced and exciting, and the characters are very relatable in their struggles.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narration was excellent! I can’t wait for the sequel.

Historia
Reagan Moon didn't plan on being an earth guardian. He was your average paranormal reporter...until 1,000 volts of raw electricity fused an ancient relic into his sternum. It left him with Powers and lets him do things most humans can't. There are others like him, seven of them to be exact. They call themselves the Imperia and are charged with keeping Earth from going down the toilet. This usually involves fighting monsters, tweaking the laws of physics, and keeping lots of booze and bandages on hand.

Supernatural horror delivered with both barrels.
Revisado: 04-12-25
Reagan’s a supernatural superhero now, and every hero needs his Justice League. In true Moon fashion, his league are broken down and close to washed up. I mean, Don Quixote is their leader’s hero? What kind of hero team sacrifice themselves in order to save the world? At least the girl he really likes beat him up and broke his nose.
Yeah, Reagan Moon is up a creek without a paddle, and now that the bad guys are taking him semi-serious, he’s gotta avoid being filleted alive while saving Los Angeles from an apocalypse of Biblical proportions.
I LOVE this book! If you are looking for a supernatural warfare series with noir vibes, don’t miss out on Mike Duran’s Reagan Moon series. Saint Death delivers with both barrels. If you like audio books, Randy Streau’s narration is spot on as well.

I love the world building for the Reagan Moon novels. The historical and mythical blend together around a guy who just doesn’t want to believe in much of anything. As you can imagine, the skeptic doesn’t stay that way for long. Great villians, believable heroes, and the triumph of good over evil made this a book I would highly recommend.

Revisado: 03-16-25
Daniel has just escaped hell, but hell isn’t finished with him yet. This sequal to Infernal Fall was a thrilling ride. No one from the first novel is forgotten, and really, there are no side characters.
I loved the themes of grace, forgiveness, and atonement. Scenes of spiritual warfare are equal parts chilling and inspiring when one considers the angels and demons vying to influence humanity.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this story and would recommend it. Just don’t read it in the dark. You’ve been warned.

Historia
To most, the term “Christian horror” probably seems like an oxymoron. Nevertheless, there are very good arguments to be made that “horror” is an eminently biblical genre and that Christian artists should be at the forefront of reclaiming it. In this work, novelist and freelance writer Mike Duran explores the Judeo-Christian roots of contemporary horror, the religious themes that frame much of the horror art, and how evangelical culture has come to distance itself from such a potentially rich and powerful medium.

Horror can be Godly
Revisado: 02-19-25
This book is a must for anyone who’s been questioned about their choice of literature, or art, or media from a Biblical perspective. How could you enjoy xyz (in this case, horror), don’t you know that’s the devil’s doorway into your life? The author lays out an undeniable thesis in which the horror genre is examined with scriptural wisdom and a gentle reminder to not call something unclean before you do your own research. (Spoiler, the genre really can be a problem when not approached from a humble perspective.)
I particularly enjoyed the reminders that much of the Bible isn’t ’Sunday School safe,’ while the Word is infallibly family friendly. If that caught your attention, you owe it to yourself to read this book.
Also, the narrator did an excellent job in pacing and emphasis where needed. He’s an easy guy to listen to for hours on end.

Thrilling conclusion to a great series!
Revisado: 08-26-24
The wait was worth it. All the threads are tied together, everything I hoped would happen was accomplished, and we are left with less of a happily ever after, and more of an invitation to dream about what adventures Carter & Ellie will embark on next. Highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a thrilling, clean, UF read.

Historia
With Ellie’s fate hanging in the balance after Nosizwe’s brutal attack, Carter is forced to make a life changing decision—the consequences of which threaten to tear Ellie and him apart. Permanently. However, teaming up again may be unavoidable. Nosizwe, convinced Carter as the Talos is the key to unlocking the Stones of Fire, throws everything she has at him, endangering not only Carter but Ellie as well. When the plots of a traitor allied with the shifter queen shove the two into an unescapable outcome, only the highest form of self-sacrifice can preserve Ellie’s life.

A brutal attack has landed Ellie in the hospital, an attack aimed at Carter. The villains are recalibrating their sights on the Talos, and the traitor continues to feed information their way.
I LOVED the way this book escalated the series. Everything got bigger, bolder, and deadlier. The traitor is revealed… and oh my will that blow your mind! And the ending… I had to begin book four immediately.

Urban mythology done right!
Revisado: 07-20-24
I love how the author blends mythology in “real world” narrative. The main characters are strong in their beliefs and character, making for sparks at times and yet a real connection continues to grow between them. I can’t emphasize enough how much I love that the author doesn’t just throw the characters together and expect us to accept their relationship.
Ellie is a strong and sweet FMC, with some real sass. Carter is your typical strong and snarky male, but shows a great depth of feelings.
The story is fast paced, great dialogue, and wow… you can’t beat that ending.
Highly recommended!

Revisado: 07-17-24
Doing the right thing can suck sometimes, and Donovan is really dealing with the fallout of being an honorable guy. So what can break a hero out of his funk? Travel, of course!
Fans of the Rock Falls wolves will love this story, and even if it’s your first venture into AJ Skelly’s world, you will catch up quick.
I loved the quick action, friends to more vibes, and yeah, the nice guy might not finish first, but his reward is so worth reading.

Historia
Shapeshifters exist. Monsters are real. And no good deed goes unpunished. Nursing student Ellie St. James didn’t mean to get involved in a war between rival gangs of shifters, but saving the life of a local mob boss’s child has dragged her into one. When Ellie’s life is threatened because of her involvement, she’s forced to go on the run, protected by Carter Ballis, head of security for the mobster’s family, and a lethal shifter himself. Blood, fire, and warfare weren’t part of Ellie’s plans, but even if she survives, her life will never be the same.

No good deed…
Revisado: 07-10-24
Ellie did what any decent human would, she tried to save a kid from certain death. Seems like she deserved a medal, and the thanks of the kiddos parents, right? Boy was she in for a surprise!
Drawn into a secret world, Ellie will find herself falling down the rabbit hole rapidly. Thankfully she’ll have the undying respect of the Costa family, and the protection of a complete stranger named Carter.
I loved how Ashwood drew on myth and legends to create her worldscape, and she deftly set it all against Fort Worth, Texas as her the background.
Strong characters, great conversations, and a world where morals and convictions matter gave me a respect for this story.
I also appreciate how the main characters weren’t thrown into an instant romantic relationship.
And that ending… wow! I’ll be reading book two ASAP.
