Like one reader said if you can get over the first 30 minutes - 45 minutes of some unnecessary carrying on this turned out to be much better then I anticipated. I only started listening to it because I finished all of Adrian’s undead diary and then saw this book . If you have listened to all Adrian’s undead diary series, this book is similar but just from another perspective of a country … I did not want it to end . Minus one truly heartbreaking scene ( it made you feel like you were there ) the rest of the story was overall great and left you wanting more .

Ability to know characters despite one person telling the story .

Over all books volume 1-4 were good . It took at least a chapter or two before I got use to the story being told by one person vs different characters speaking for themselves.
Only thing I truly disliked ( wasn’t horrible but a bit annoying at times ) was when the main character was stuck on wetting his dipstick so to speak . It wasn’t horrible but it’s like we are talking about an apocalypse and you want to go there … The moments of I just need a “ vagina “ ( again not horrible but annoying) like ok heard you once already .
Beyond that overall I enjoyed the book .
Even though the book is more made out to read as if you’re reading someone’s “ journal “ you still did get to know the characters.
Oh and I give it a “4” star rating simply because I’d rather hear a little bit of I need to get me some ass then I need to get me a vagina.. FYI despite me talking about the annoying parts of the vagina chat , that was just a very short burst here and there , so please don’t mistake my review in the sense that that’s what this series focused on as it did not , it’s just obvious that’s what annoyed me ..

The repetitiveness of one relationship was just a bit to much , it’s like we get the point, you don’t have to repeat it 24/7 . Thankfully after about the 20th time they figured we got it .
Overall the book was good. It was worth the time spent listening to it .
At times ( especially if using the book to go to sleep with ) if you didn’t pay close attention it was a bit easy to lose which character was with which party ..

I enjoyed the raw truthfulness of the story line but be forewarned it can be triggering if one has ever been a victim at the hands of another .
A bit confused about one character that I believe dates back to an earlier book but it doesn’t impact the story line .
