Sweet short story about taking the chance to have what your heart desires instead of what’s expected.

If you have listened to the Mystic Notch series up to this point, you will notice that Hollis McCarthy’s narration style has changed with this book. It’s like she forgot how she voiced the characters for the whole series. Still a good book, but I’m put off by Hollis’ characterizations for this one. Hoping for a return to the old voices for the next episode.

I enjoyed the return of Corrie and Nora in the twisty historical fiction. The narrator was good until the end of the book with the introduction of a new character; she seemed to really struggle with accents and it was somewhat grating.

I really enjoyed the story. It was a hopeful love story. However, the author's voice as the reader did diminish a fair bit of my listening pleasure.

The story itself is great in that it depicts biblical truths in a fictional storyline with characters most people can relate to. The recording quality leaves a bit to be desired when parts sound like a home recording with background noise where you actually hear the reader reading the same lines as if he is playing back his recording. There are also awkward sound breaks that are reminiscent of a homemade, unprofessional recording. Enjoy the story for what it is...hoping future volumes are better recordings.
