Historia
Volume One of Stalin begins and ends in January 1928 as Stalin boards a train bound for Siberia, about to embark upon the greatest gamble of his political life. He is now the ruler of the largest country in the world, but a poor and backward one, far behind the great capitalist countries in industrial and military power, encircled on all sides. In Siberia, Stalin conceives of the largest program of social reengineering ever attempted.

Typical history book rather than a biography
Revisado: 07-14-23
Take my review with a grain of salt: it’s my first Stalin book and I am not much into history, so maybe it’s just too advanced for me.
My experience matches with what the other reviews say. There is no coherent story just a long list of events, names and dates. Only the intro focuses on Stalin (his childhood) the rest is about Russia / world and Stalin is just a part (although a big one) of the events

Historia
In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea - and to freedom.

More personal story than North Korea description
Revisado: 10-11-22
Watched interviews with the author online and hoped to learn more about how people live in North Korea from her book. I def know more about the author now but her interviews are “denser” and more colorful.
A note about the performance: the narration is pretty flat and monotonous. The narrator has a noticeable Korean accent, I got used to it pretty quickly, no big deal there but in such case I would prefer to listen to the author herself

Pure quackery
Revisado: 12-31-21
Overall the message to stay Ve and actually beak out of your “routine” is nice. But this is one of a few books that I haven’t finished, the contents is just too much:
- as many con artists the author uses too much too abstract abstract language to give the book a pseudo scientific flavor
- time travel experiments
- don’t even let me start on his “quantum physics”

Big par of the book can be replaced by the audio
Revisado: 09-21-21
As the title says a big portion of the book is good in an audio only format. But some parts just aren’t, and some of these parts are pretty important (such as typical patterns). Probably makes sense to pair it with a text version, this way you cloud save some time on reading the full text but still dig into details where the audio does suffice

Surprisingly good as an audiobook
Revisado: 04-25-21
My main fear was that it wouldn’t not be very listenable as an audio book. But it is actually nice. Would definitely recommend to give it a try.
The content is cool too, though I noticed some minor things (such as saying “we at google” too often, which gets on nerves a little). The book gives a great overview of internal tooling, processes, and reasoning behind some decisions/approaches.

This is the first book to present innovation and entrepreneurship as a purposeful and systematic discipline. It clearly explains and analyzes the challenges and opportunities of America's new entrepreneurial economy. Peter Drucker, the most influential and widely-read thinker and writer on modern organizations, gives us a superbly practical book that explains what established businesses, public service institutions, and new ventures have to know, have to learn, and have to do in today's economy and marketplace.

I heard good things about the author and the book but still was pretty reluctant. It was wrong the book is awesome. it’s really interesting even though it’s not the newest publication. The book has a lot of well organized observations about how the world around works (yeah the world, not only startups but also governments, politics, education ...) at the same time it’s interestingly has lively examples.
Highly recommend

When it comes to health, there is one criminally overlooked element: sleep. Good sleep helps you shed fat for good, stave off disease, stay productive, and improve virtually every function of your mind and body. That's what Shawn Stevenson learned when a degenerative bone disease crushed his dream of becoming a professional athlete. Like many of us, he gave up on his health and his body...until he decided there must be a better way.

Factually questionable and seems contains paid promotions
Revisado: 01-13-20
The topic is important and I would say it’s better to read something about it than nothing. But taking into account that there very impressive alternatives like Matthew Walker I would not recommend it.
The main reason are:
1. Author sometimes goes into scientific peculiarities about hormones and etc. which is fine. But at the same time he easily inserts very questionable recommendations or “facts” with no real references. For example he claims that topic magnesium has superior effectiveness. But National Center for Biotechnology Information has a paper which doesn’t agree with that. I didn’t even start researching “grounding” and other recommended techniques
2. Book recommends a specific brand of magnesium, offers referral discount codes for a specific mattress brand and etc. and all this “info” is available in a special additional pdf when you subscribe to the author’s mailing list
3. It’s not a big book and at the same time it tries to be all in one health coach (diet and training program for building muscle, for loosing weight and other “useful” life advices, like a lifestyle blog )

John C. Bogle's The Little Book of Index Investing is a power-packed explanation of why outperforming the market is an investor illusion. Instead, the founder of The Vanguard Group—the man who's been called "the conscience of the investment industry"*—recommends a simple, time-tested investment strategy that can deliver the greatest return to the greatest number of investors: indexing.

Explains well indexing of stocks and bonds
Revisado: 08-15-19
Liked the book, yes it’s completely about indexing. But it’s not possible to replace the whole book with some summaries like “buy low cost index funds”, they don’t explain why. The book explains why and how indexing works, has a lot of references to other people (Graham and Buffet and many others). Has some practical advice about your portfolio (at the end). It’s recommended in a lot of places starting with reddit and ending with Buffet
Ps I took one star out of the performance section because it has some details which makes listening much harder, e.g. in some examples when they compare differences it would be much simpler to comprehend something like “approach A gives you less than 96 thousand when B more than 135” instead of “A gives you 95, 543 when B 135, 847”. But overall it’s much easier to listen to than “the intelligent Investor”
