Historia
The year is 2061, and the planet is dying. Cataclysmic solar storms have forced leaders from around the world to finally put aside their differences and agree on one thing - to jump ship. The human race is headed to Mars. Dr. Sophie Winston is hired by New Tech Corporation to test a biosphere deep within the heart of Cheyenne Mountain; a mission she believes will help prepare NTC for the three-year flight to the red planet. But, just days into the assignment, things start to go wrong. When the blast doors hiss open, Winston's team finds a changed world outside.

This is just so unexpectedly bad. I just finished Hell Divers (which was fantastic) and was eager to read more from Nicholas, but right off the the bat the narrators bizarre voice for men was off-putting, followed by ridiculous dialogue between characters. I thought it might just be the narrator, but as you listen you realize it's the writing as well. Maybe he was just finishing a binge of terrible SciFi channel movies when he got started on it and it creeped in because Hell Divers was great.

Historia
Nestled on the foot of Tibet’s sacred Seche La Mountain is the village of Dagz. The normally quiet streets are bustling with the steady stream of arrivals and preparations for the coming Festival of the Medicine King; a time of celebration, healing, and renewal. But a shadow is sweeping the world, a plague of apocalyptic proportions - the dead are rising and devouring the living, and no place is safe where humanity thrives.

This was a fantastic change of pace from the usual zombie tale. A unique location, cultural perspective and set-up with interesting characters and story line. The author also keeps you guessing, and the narrator did an amazing job as well. A great listen and I can't wait until the next book comes out.

Not worth the Audible Credit
Revisado: 01-24-14
What disappointed you about Uprising USA?
I only made through about an hour but...
The Narration:
- The narrator isn't consistent, he keeps changing George (the main characters) voice, and can't keep a consistent speed
- It sounds like it was recorded in a basement.
- The narrator sounds young, but the main character is old enough to have 6 kids, maybe he started young, I didn't get far enough to figure out how old the guy was.
The Book:
- Lack of character building, I didn't care about any of the characters let alone care what happened next
- Lack of description, I've often complained when authors get overly descriptive, now I understand how much WORSE it is when the opposite is true, there is nothing to compel you to invest in the story
Would you ever listen to anything by George Hill again?
It would be a hard sell
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jason Clearfield?
Sean Runnette, he's age appropriate, and can pull off the snarky sarcasm I think the author was going for

You can download all the pod casts for free, they're currently on the 4th season.
This is Audio Theater, so the characters are sometimes over the top, and it is very different from a novel. It also took awhile to get used to all the sound effects.
Overall the story is not anything special or unique, but I enjoy the characters, voice actors, and enough of the plot to have spent the last week listening to all the episodes. I actually enjoyed how naive the writers made the characters, it's a nice injection of humor.
If you're on the fence about it, I suggest going to the website and listening to the first episode.

If you love the Zombie fallout series, this is a must get!
Even though it is supposed to be a standalone series, I'm not sure if you'll appreciate it without having read at least the first zombie fallout book.
Just like Zombie Fallout isn't just about zombies, Lycan Fallout isn't just about Lycans. Mark Tufo does an amazing job with this, and pulls off the break from traditional genres. I can't wait for the next book, and ZF 7 for that matter.

The Narrator redeemed himself
Revisado: 06-25-13
Any additional comments?
The only complaint I had about the first book was the narrator. He redeemed himself, no more surfer dudes and valley girl voices.
As some others pointed out there was a survival guide feel to it, lots of info on weapons proper preps, and human dynamics.
Although it is not non-stop gore, it is still a zombie story. More information comes to light regarding the outbreak, and you get to hear the story from both Gabe and Erics points of view.

Unique End of the World Story
Revisado: 06-17-13
What did you like best about this story?
The main character Mera reacted the way I think most people would in a disaster scenario, and I enjoyed seeing her character develop throughout the story.
Any additional comments?
There's not a lot of gore, battles with the infected, or underlying love stories compared to other novels. The 'end event' of this book is a mix of natural disasters, mystery illness, and pseudo zombies. The book has a lot of religious undertones, but takes a wacky unexpected turn towards the end, I definitely didn't see it coming.
In the beginning it seemed like the narrator was speaking really fast, but either she slowed down or I got used to it. Overall I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next one.

A Great Listen
Revisado: 06-16-13
Any additional comments?
I was worried when the story began with the main character having a "Zombie" Plan which she had been preparing for for years, which seemed ridiculous. Luckily it quickly redeemed itself by not focusing on that, and kicking off the nonstop action. This was the first book I had read that did not bother pondering the why or how of the infection, it just went head long into how the characters react and try to survive. It was a refreshing change and a really good listen.

Do you enjoy being screamed at for 13 hours? Then this is the book for you!
Don't dare turn down the volume when the narrators is screaming at you, because the next minute she'll be whispering.
Over all this series took an idiotic turn for the worse. I know to expect some silly love triangle in a teen genre book, and the first book hinted at it, but now our ignorant heroine is shown to be SO incredibly irresistible that even the zombie kid falls for her? Really? Barf.
