Lescault is a total bore.

Would you try another book from Homer and/or John Lescault?

There other versions of Homer's great epics on Audible that are all done by great narrators. I found this to be a stinker and I regret that the low price made me initially buy it.

What didn’t you like about John Lescault’s performance?

Everything: DULL.

If you could sum up The Iliad in three words, what would they be?

While Mitchell's translation and the variation of the Illiad it is based on are rather controversial, it is surely a wonderful thing to listen to. The great actor, Alfred Molina, does a splendid job. A true pleasure to listen to. Mitchell's translation in contemporary English makes the text especially alive.

Great book and great reader!

After reading Kitty Kelley's scandalous Sinatra book, it was a pleasure listening to a book that was fair to Sinatra and that also fully recognized his musical genius. Kaplan pulls no punches and effectively manages to create a portrait of Sinatra that will be very hard to surpass. I strongly suggest listening to the early Sinatra in order to fully appreciate this book. Rob Shapiro was a true delight as a reader.

Completely engaging and comprehensive

This book truly changed the way I understand 20th music and provided me with deep insights into the changing role of composition. The interconnection between music and society was examined in great depth. Ross really enhanced my appreciation and understanding of music that I had, at best a limited grasp of.

I would have read LIFE, but I am so happy that I did not. Listening to Richards, Depp, and Hurley was simply so engaging that I think this a case where listening beats reading. The book itself is of real substance. I think this is a autobiography at its best.

Great history, well narrated

The book itself is simply great. Stefan Rudnicki's voices changes are fun as he takes on the entire cast of post-WW2 politicians, CIA chiefs, and spies. I would listen to the whole thing again.
After listening to it, I know why Weiner won the Puilitzer for it. It is better than any spy novel. If you long suspected that the US is over its head when it comes to international relations, this book will help you understand why.
