Historia
The Covenant mission is the most ambitious endeavor in the history of Weyland-Yutani. A ship bound for Origae-6, carrying 2,000 colonists beyond the limits of known space, this is a make-or-break investment for the corporation - and for the future of all mankind. Yet there are those who would die to stop the mission. As the colony ship hovers in Earth orbit, several violent events reveal a deadly conspiracy to sabotage the launch.

Really fun book that could have been awesome

So, canonically this can’t be an “official prequel” it barely knows its own lore. First off, it claims to be a prequel to the covenant movie, which takes place before the events of Alien. This place is conflicted by the insistence of the author that the “company” is named Weyland-Yutani at this point, this being an issue because the merger between these two mega corps doesn’t even take place until between Alien and Aliens. Otherwise it’s a fun story. I just have to edit it in my head I guess.

I loved this series so far but it hits an insurmountable issue here.

I loved this series so far but it hits an insurmountable issue here.
Revisado: 11-23-20
The problem is mainly Anne. The story tried to do something really really REALLY difficult, and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I understand that there are character faults inherent to the time period, and Anne is rife with these. Mark/Mary tried their best and stayed true to their ideals, but Anne needed guidance and only took action as a reaction to the bad deed what was done to her and the slave she once owned. I understand the need for a connection to drive her but it relegated the character Moses to a mammy at best and a set piece at worst. Nothing but gratitude was his response and honestly that is distasteful to say the very least. MAKING HIM accept her apology and having her decorate her apology with her own lackluster personal trauma was disturbing. I can’t in good conscience ever recommend this series to a POC. I’m honestly having trouble moving forward.
