Historia
Following the death of her husband, Lady Darby has taken refuge at her sister's estate, finding solace in her passion for painting. But when one of the house guests is murdered, her brother-in-law asks her to aid the insufferable Sebastian Gage - a fellow guest with some experience as an inquiry agent. Good story, needs a different narrator!
Revisado: 06-05-20
The overall story was good. This is probably a very good series. Unfortunately, the rest of the books have the same narrator so I probably won't listen to them. I barely made it through this one!

Decent story line, narration was rough!
Revisado: 02-06-19
The overall story line was decent although somewhat predictable. The narrator made the story very difficult to get through. She was very monotone with little inflection. When she did use inflection, it was usually in the wrong spot.

Forced myself to finish
Revisado: 04-14-17
The storyline was very predictable and Jane most be one of the worst cops ever. The narrator was awful and I found myself shaking my head so often at her inflections that I'm amazed I don't have whiplash.

Historia
For fans of Tana French and The Silent Wife, The Last Winter of Dani Lancing is a chilling debut thriller hailed by Sophie Hannah as "brilliant" about one murder's devastating ripple effects.
Twenty years ago, college student Dani Lancing was kidnapped and brutally murdered. The killer was never found. Dani's family never found peace.
Thrust into an intense devastation that nearly destroys their marriage, Patty and Jim Lancing struggle to deal with their harrowing loss. Patty is fanatically obsessed with the cold case; consumed by every possible clue or suspect no matter how far-fetched, she goes to horrifying lengths to help clarify the past. Meanwhile, Jim has become a shell of his former self, broken down and haunted - sometimes literally - by his young daughter's death. Dani's childhood sweetheart, Tom, handles his own grief every day on the job - he's become a detective intent on solving murders of other young women, and hopes to one day close Dani's case himself.
Then everything changes when Tom finds a promising new lead. As lies and secrets are unearthed, the heartbreaking truth behind Dani's murder is finally revealed.
The Last Winter of Dani Lancing is a shockingly disturbing and deeply powerful debut, and P.D. Viner immediately joins the ranks of Tana French, A. S. A. Harrison, and Gillian Flynn.

Narration was over the top
Revisado: 03-01-15
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The screaming and crying of the narrators while other narrators were speaking was very distracting.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the story for the most part. However the narrators would wail or scream for endless minutes when their character was doing so. This was often distracting as they were doing so while other narrators were speaking. It also became too overwhelming and ear splitting at times as I often listen to my books with headphones. I frequently had to stop what I was doing and remove my headphones as the volume of the crying/screaming was louder than the speaking.

I regret downloading this book!!!
Revisado: 05-05-12
Any additional comments?
This has to be one of the worst books I've ever listened to. I couldn't even listen to the whole thing. A lot of the reviewers complained about the narrator, but I couldn't stomach the story itself. I didn't realize it was basically a porno and not even well written porn at that. The author needs to come up with some other lines instead of repeatedly using the same ones such as "I peeked at him through my lashes". Is that even possible?! I wish I hadn't wasted my time or money!

Revisado: 08-20-10
Absolutely the worst book I've ever listened to. The story itself was tolerable although extremely predictable and rather boring, but the narrator made a bad book horrible! I kept listening cause I thought, "surely this has to get better!" but it never did!
