Historia
For decades, Amy ran. Through the dirt roads of Amarillo, Texas, where she grew up; to the campus of the University of Virginia, as a student athlete; on the streets of New York, where she built her adult life; through marriage, motherhood, and a thriving career. To outsiders, it all looked, in many ways, perfect. But Amy was running from something—a secret she was keeping not only from her family and friends, but unconsciously from herself. “You’re here, but you’re not here,” her daughter said to her one night. “Where are you, Mom?”

I expected more
Revisado: 03-20-25
I went in wanting to like and connect with this book but I did not. The book was disorganized and I was struggling to find connections with a lot of the content or why it was included in the story. I didn't hate it, but I also would not recommend it.

Horrible
Revisado: 01-31-25
what a convoluted story with so many twists that don't make sense and unnecessary introductions of plats, people, and storylines. Prime example of a book trying too hard. I'm sure it will be a beat seller because so many terrible books are, but one that I cannot recommend or read again. I'm surprised I finished it.

Had potential
Revisado: 06-07-24
I love other books from this author, but this one was just off on every level for me. The story, the characters nothing seemed to really flow. There were unnecessary additions (e.g. the accent of Alice's father) and the storyline was predictable. I knew what was going to happen by the end of the first couple of chapters. The narration also did not help. Spend your credits elsewhere.

Just not good
Revisado: 08-05-23
I wanted to like this book, but it was just not well written. There was no depth to the characters, yet weird information was given, I rolled my eyes so many times during this book irritated and frustrated with the storyline and the characters. I found the book to be cringy and the narrator was also not great. added nothing to the book.

Terrible narration.
Revisado: 05-13-21
Yes, the narration was horrible, but that cannot be blamed for how bad the storyline and book actually are. It tried so hard, but it just does not work. Nothing fits, it's disjointed and the characters are not fully developed. I wanted to like it but it was not possible.

This was an amazing, well-rounded book. My only complaint is the music they would sporadically play during the audio. Itwas distracting.

Entertaining Story and Perspective
Revisado: 05-03-20
Story and narrator were effective in portraying the experiences of the author (also the narrator). I love it when the author narrates their book, especially when it is their own personal story. This book gives great insight into a world I know little about. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Listen to some highly enjoyable stories and hopefully come away with a greater perspective of the world and how we are kept safe. Will there be a sequel soon??

Perhaps there was too much hype going in, but this was not her best book or story (IMO). It is the least favorite of the 6 books of hers I have read so far.

Historia
He was someone who belonged in my wildest fantasies instead of a rest stop in the middle of Nebraska. A sexy, cocky Australian named Chance was the last person I expected to run into on my cross-country drive. When my car broke down, we made a deal. Next thing I knew, we were traveling together, spending sexually tense nights in hotels, and taking unplanned detours. My ordinary road trip turned into the adventure of a lifetime. It was all fun and games until things got intense.

Aaron Abano's Narration
Revisado: 02-12-19
Aaron Abano's narration would prevent me from ever listening to this book again or recommending it to anyone. could they not find an actual young, Australian make to narrate? I would have preferred Michelke Ferguson to narrate the entire book and recommend she does and they re release. I also did not enjoy the book either, not sure if that is the awful narration clouding my judgment or if it was just not a great story.

The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men's locker room. It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster. The famed quarterback decided to bare all. And by all, I don't mean he told me any of his secrets. No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel just as I asked the first question. On camera.

Good and Terrible Narration
Revisado: 02-10-19
Mackenzie Cartwright did an amazing job narrating her portions of the book, thankfully they were more than Sean Criden's sections. His narration had a whiny tone, especially for women that was annoying to listen to.
