Didn't like the rhetoric

I purchased this audiobook expecting an education in evolution. Although it was educational, I was turned off by all the rhetoric over creationism vs. evolution. The argument seems really outdated. Does anybody today still literally believe in Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden?

I've been listening to this audiobook over and over for many years, and every time it's like a breath of fresh air. I'm actually retired now and have achieved all the success I want, and I still enjoy listening to it!. I've read/listened to many other Brian Tracy books, but this one's my favorite. His enthusiasm in this one is so infectious. I'll admit some of the things he says are downright silly, but I get over it and get into the motivational groove. I wish there were more books like this one!

Way too left-leaning, but what was I thinking?

This is not a source of headline news...it's just leftist propaganda.

On another note, I'm puzzled about all of the other reviewers complaining about not being able to delete this subscription and that it's taking up phone memory. It appears to me that the articles won't go onto my phone unless I manually go to the WP subscription page and download them. Am I missing something?

Strive to make it through the first book

Jesus suffered, and so should you while reading the first book, which lays the groundwork for the 2nd and 3rd books, which are excellent. The first book talks mainly about human evolution and conditioning and gets a little convoluted. The 2nd and 3rd books are what the trilogy is all about...very rich teachings. The narration is excellent...I can certainly picture Jesus speaking. Oh, yeah...if you're a strict Christian, you'll probably be offended by Gina Lake claiming to be speaking for Jesus. You'll call it a blasphemous ploy to attract buyers. But I enjoyed pretending Jesus was speaking, and I think most people will too.

This is the first and last book by Dr. Brown I will read.

The first two thirds of this book is about dealing with shame. The author uses the word shame ad nausea, like 100 times...shame this and shame that. So, when you break from the book, what are you going to think about? Shame! You will find yourself analyzing the shame in your life, the causes of it, who and what are to blame, etc. This is a very depressing and unhealthy way to think and live! Unfortunately, the book does not present ways to effectively eliminate shame, just ways to identify it and become angry and upset about it. The whiny, sing-song pitch of the narrator only adds to the depressing nature of the book.

The last third was just a bunch of psycho-babble with no clear topic or direction. The chapter on parenting was just awful. Near the beginning Dr. Brown states that she's no expert on parenting, but this doesn't stop her from dishing out her parenting philosophy, which of course is 90% based on her own children and parenting experiences. She implies that the way you raise your children is the most significant factor in how they turn out, but I'm 52 years old and I've seen enough children and parenting to know that how kids turn out is 90% about the confluence of sperm and egg.

Dr. Brown says in this book that anyone who criticizes her should have the guts to disclose their full name. Hello, I'm Ronald Anthony Marshall.
