Historia
Long before hitting the stage as the lead singer of the iconic glam rock band Scissor Sisters, Jake Shears was Jason Sellards, a teenage boy living a fraught life, resulting in a confusing and confining time in high school as his classmates bullied him and few teachers showed sympathy. It wasn’t until years later, while living and studying in New York City, that Jason would find his voice as an artist and, with a group of friends and musicians who were also thirsting for stardom and freedom, form the band Scissor Sisters.

Engaging story behind the great music
Revisado: 04-07-23
I’ve loved the music of Scissor Sisters since I first heard it. This memoir puts it into context and is fabulously written by the man behind it.

Historia
Call Me by Your Name first swept across the world in 2007. It is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents' cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.

Great book, boring audiobook
Revisado: 01-01-22
This is one of the most intimate books I’ve ever read—and yet surprisingly not sexually explicit. I have to say, though, that Armie Hammer’s narration manages to squelch all the passion out of it. It’s quite boring to listen to; I found reading the book made the story far more compelling.

From the larger, louder half of the world-famous magic duo Penn & Teller comes a scathingly funny reinterpretation of The Ten Commandments. They are The Penn Commandments, and they reveal one outrageous and opinionated atheist’s experience in the world.

Entertaining, and oddly enlightening
Revisado: 09-25-12
Would you listen to God, No! again? Why?
Overall a humorous and sometimes thought-provoking glimpse into the mind of a very outspoken, self-described atheist libertarian. Although I don't agree one all of his points, I can find common ground on much of it. I think listening again would help understand the more minute points.

Historia
The most important issue in a gay man’s life is not “coming out”, but coming to terms with the invalidating past. Despite the progress made in recent years, many gay men still wonder, “Are we better off?” The byproduct of growing up gay in a straight world continues to be the internalization of shame, rejection, and anger - a toxic cocktail that can lead to drug abuse, promiscuity, alcoholism, depression, and suicide.
