In John Scalzi's re-imagining of H. Beam Piper's 1962 sci-fi classic Little Fuzzy, written with the full cooperation of the Piper Estate, Jack Holloway works alone for reasons he doesnt care to talk about. Hundreds of miles from ZaraCorps headquarters on planet, 178 light-years from the corporations headquarters on Earth, Jack is content as an independent contractor, prospecting and surveying at his own pace. As for his past, thats not up for discussion.

My only complaint:
Revisado: 02-18-19
There are other words than "said". I'm not sure if the WAY over use of it was intentional or not, but man did it get annoying. Would have been 5 stars but after chapter 2 every time I heard "X said." I started to roll my eyes. It brought me out of the story. Seriously, use a thesaurus sometime. Variation in writing is a good thing.

A Wild Ride
Revisado: 01-29-19
Nit a bad listen. I honestly couldn't even keep the characters straight and whenever something happened to one of them I had no real emotional response because of it. Felt like there was a million people you were supposed to keep straight and to this very moment I can't name everyone on the team.
The plot itself was interesting but confusing. I suppose it's not that big of a surprise when you start getting into alternative universes and times, but I was lost several times. It wasn't so bad that I couldn't finish it, but enough that if I took some sort of test in this book I'd probably fail.
Not bad, but not good either. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but if you're curious you might as well give it a shot.

In December 1893, Sherlock Holmes-adoring Londoners eagerly opened their Strand magazines-- anticipating the detective's next adventure-- only to find the unthinkable: his creator, Arthur Conan Doyle, had killed their hero off. London spiraled into mourning -- crowds sported black armbands in grief -- and railed against Conan Doyle as his assassin.

it wasn't what I was expecting when I first started to listen to it, but that's not a bad thing. I DID finish it, though it took longer than most books did. It was less about Sherlock and more about Arthur Conan Doyle. if you're thinking about getting it, I say you might as well give it a go!

Never a doubt. Never a mistake. Always for justice. Never for revenge. She's the person you hire when you need something fixed-permanently. With a strict set of criteria, she evaluates every request and chooses only a few. No more than one job per country, per year. She will only step in if it's clear that justice will not be served any other way. Her jobs are completed with skill and precision, and never result in inquiry or police investigation. The Fixer is invisible - and quite deadly.

Returning it!
Revisado: 02-18-18
The story SOUNDED like it would be interesting and promising. It sounded highly unique and I was excited that the main character was female but all the girls seem to be written so poorly it's unreadable. The women flip flop from being a stoic, unfeeling robot to a sobbing and rocking mess. Either write a badass woman that "Fixes" problems or write a broken, sobbing, pathetic woman. You can't have someone that doesn't care about murdering or the dead that ALSO can't handle that she kills. Such a waste of a good idea. :/

Revisado: 09-28-17
I went I to this with no expectations. It sounded mildly interesting, was on sale, and I figured to hell with it. The beginning of the book was interesting, what with him being a program and fumbling through the questions of what makes something human, but after that it's beyond boring.
I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and continued on all the way up to chapter 26 but I can't do it anymore. It's boring, nothing is really happening in the story, there isn't any character conflict, and it want keeping my attention at all. I feel bad that the narrator had to read through all this book. Started out good but quickly became awful. Don't buy. Don't read.

Only for the Podcast fans!
Revisado: 05-03-17
If you could sum up Welcome to Night Vale in three words, what would they be?
Podcast Fans Only!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Honestly? Probably Cecil Baldwin, the narrator. His voice is just all the right amounts of creepy and relaxing to keep you interested.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
If you like the podcast, than you would know why you like the narrator, honestly. It's the tone of his voice and the pace that he reads (do keep in mind I play my audio books at 1.25X so, I'm not sure what it's like on a normal speed) and his inflection in the words.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I can't say "moved" is the right word, but I really connected with the characters.
Any additional comments?
Unless you're a huge fan of the podcast and have listened to quite a few of them, then this book probably isn't for you. As someone who has listened to a large chunk of the podcast, I really enjoyed the novel. I liked the little reminders of the world of Nightvale, but some of the call-outs to the podcast seemed to be just that. Unnecessary call-outs keeping those not in the know confused and feeling out of the loop. They, perhaps, didn't need so many of those reminders or sort of name drops from the podcast, making it feel a bit more like a hard nudge at the reader and bringing you out of the immersion of the book, but it wasn't so overbearing that it's unreadable. I don't regret getting it. If you loved the WTNV podcast, than you'll most likely love this. Won't recommend to friends or family that never listened, though. My mother (who never listened) overheard quite a few parts and was confused and put off by the strangeness that I had come to understand and accept about Nightvale.

Wil Weaton Made This For Me.
Revisado: 05-03-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! I already have. I find a lot of young adult stories sacrifice an amazing plot for forced romance and it didn't feel like that happened with this one. There was a bit of romance, but it wasn't overpowering the plot and seemed like a side plot than the main thing.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ready Player One?
Not sure I could pick one, to be honest. There were a lot of good moments for me that stick out, but none I could truly pick without spoilers galore. So, I'll just say there was a lot I like about this.
Which character – as performed by Wil Wheaton – was your favorite?
Oh, I'm not sure I could pick! Honestly, Wil Wheaton's performance was amazing to me. I watch his youtube series and was looking for a novel with his voice because I find it very soothing. I wasn't sure about this book in particular, but I wasn't disappointed!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I definitely smiled wide at some points! Usually I listen to audio books with a blank face while at the gym, in a store, or doing housework, but this one had me smiling and a few times I even silently cheered them on.
Any additional comments?
I own a hard copy of this book and gave it ago. I found it to be boring, a struggle to get through, and it felt more like pandering to an older generation than me with just name drops and mentions of technology or shows of a time before me. I instantly dropped the book BUT upon looking for a book voiced by Wil Wheaton, I happened upon it and figured even if I didn't like the novel, I'd enjoy Wil's voice. I couldn't put the audio book down! Wil brought life to the story and it's characters in a way that seemed lacking in the book itself. This book went from being a boring novel I was desperately trying to get rid of to a novel I recommend. If you didn't like the novel, or even if you did, give this audio book a spin! It changed my mind about the novel and I'd consider getting another of Ernest Cline's books if Wil is the one reading them!

Historia
A thousand years ago, the Navigator crossed the great deep in ships lit with 16 stones touched by Oum'ilah, the God of Gods. Over time the stones were scattered, and a prophecy arose declaring that a "child of no man" would gather them again, obtain immortality, and reign forever as god and king of Candelarr. Two religious groups have sprung up around the prophecy, each with its own champion.

It was okay.
Revisado: 05-03-17
Would you be willing to try another book from Kieth Merrill? Why or why not?
Perhaps. I would consider getting the second book in the series if I couldn't think of a book that I was dying to read/listen to. Perhaps if it was on sale as well?
What about Tim Gerard Reynolds’s performance did you like?
I really loved the voices, honestly. They helped a lot when reading the story. The book itself had WAY too many characters and seemed to switch randomly between them. It was a little hard to keep track of who was who and what and where you were in the story. Without Mr. Reynold's differences in the voices he gave each character, I'm not sure I would have been able to understand the book at all!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, mostly because of it's length, but I do NOT suggest you "put it down" for awhile. It quickly becomes confusing if you don't listen at least for a little bit ever few days. I know I had to sit there and think about it even while playing the book. NOT a book to listen to while doing something else.
Any additional comments?
The point of view seemed to jump all over the place, from one character to the next, and the list of characters you need to keep track of is long. The plot itself is interesting enough and I would have loved this book under normal circumstances, but the over abundance of characters, and the sudden viewpoint switches had me confused at a lot of turns. It took me much longer than it should have to realize the scenery had changed and the characters were different. Without Reynold's voice acting, I'm certain I would have been completely lost. This is not a book to listen to while you do other things, such as housework or other tasks that might take your concentration away from the story. The gym is not a good place for this book either. It's the kind of novel you need to sit down and listen to it without other distractions. It started making a lot more sense and about 2/3 of the way through it became easier to notice the scene changes and I knew most of the characters, but still got confused occasionally. So, overall, I think it was an okay story and I'm not rushing out to get the second novel. Perhaps if I find it on sale or have no other pressing books that I crave to listen to, I'll pick up the second one. But for me, it wasn't good enough for me to go rushing out for it. Not bad enough for me to stop reading altogether, though.
