Historia
Margo Everson sees the call out for the cookbook club and knows she’s found her people. Recently dumped by her self-absorbed husband, who frankly isn’t much of a loss, she has little to show for her marriage but his "parting gift"—a dilapidated old farm house—and a collection of well-loved cookbooks. Aja Alexander just hopes her newfound friends won’t notice that that every time she looks at food, she gets queasy. It’s hard hiding a pregnancy, especially one she can’t bring herself to share with her wealthy boyfriend and his snooty mother.

Thoroughly Enjoyed
Revisado: 12-03-20
I thoroughly enjoyed this memorable, audible book and the narrator was absolutely splendid. The storyline was very engaging and I was able to connect instantly with all of the characters, even those who had small parts. I laughed and was a tad surprised throughout the entire book.
The narrators voice was compelling and allowed me to imagine the scenery while putting myself in the room while observing everything spoken, witnessing every detail.
I would definitely recommend this audible book. it was a great listen and one that I will certainly listen to again.

Best From Ashley
Revisado: 06-08-20
This was a story about a young woman named Ellie who was left a large inheritance from her grandmother whom she barely knew or liked. Yet, in the midst of that, she began a quest on discovering her past and family history with the help of her deceased mother's diary.
I have read and purchased on audible many of Ashley Farley's books and this is the best one. I purchased the audible version and was in the story from beginning to end. There are very few authors that can tell more than show and actually pull it off. Ashley is one of those authors that simply tells the story rather than spending much time on painting the picture and describing the scenery. It kept my attention the entire time and I was actually interested in all of the characters. The book does finish on a cliffhanger so I immediately purchased the sequel Beyond the Garden.

Surprise Ending
Revisado: 06-08-20
I was really looking forward to this book after reading Magnolia Nights; however, this book took a different approach and had a different feel from book one. In the first book, Ellie, the main character, had a mature personality. She was thoughtful and appreciative, but in this book, she seemed to be a bit more immature and whimsical. Some of her decisions didn't make sense for a forty-year-old recently married woman.
The personality of the characters seemed to change in this book only from picking up from the first book four months later. So the personalities through me a bit but it was still engaging enough to keep me going to the next chapter mainly to see if the story would smooth itself out and it did around chapter thirteen. The story moved along but yet became very predictable up until the last few sentences. I really liked the surprise ending and would love to had heard a tad more about Maddie and her Gullah traditions.
Overall, it was a good story. It is not one of her books that I would read again; however, I would recommend it.

Faith and Wisdom
Revisado: 06-08-20
I really enjoyed these stories. They are stories that a person can listen to more than once. Since each chapter tells a different story, you can bookmark your favorite stories and listen quickly for daily wisdom and inspiration. My favorite chapters were chapter three on getting along with your neighbors and chapter eighteen on pride. The last two chapters on temptation and temperance did not hold my attention too well; however, they did contain a very noteworthy message but I was not in the story with the characters as much as I was with the other chapters.
I bought the audio version and the narrator, Rebecca Gallagher, did an outstanding job distinguishing between the characters. Her voice is clear and unmistakable. She truly placed my imagination straight into the stories and allowed me to immediately take a fondness toward each character.
These are Amish stories based on faith, wisdom, and culture. A culture that has very much intrigued me into buying the next clean, and wholesome novel. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to listen to faith-based stories and situations that test our faith. No matter what denomination you are, you can certainly relate to at least one of the stories included in this novel.

Heartwarming
Revisado: 05-19-20
This was a very heartwarming book about Roseanne, an Amish woman who gave so much of herself and wanted nothing in return. She put all of her trust in God and strived towards being a dutiful wife and mother even with the mental abuse from her husband she still remained true to her vows. After a sudden and milk illness hit er unexpectedly, she had to learn how to say, "No," to the many demands that were pressed upon her from her community. But with the help of a wise woman, she learned how to stop doing so much for others while neglecting her own needs.
This was a terrific read with an adorable and likable character. I was in the story the entire time. I also took a liking to the variety of terms and traditions within the Amish community.
The audio version was clear and the emphasis on particular words, phrases, and scenes was right on point and placed me in the story from beginning to end. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to escape for a while from their stressful life and learn a bit about the Amish community in the process.

Humorous and Upbeat
Revisado: 08-01-19
I usually don't listen to books on audible, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author not only is a great storyteller, but she also narrated the book and did a fine job. It was humorous, witty, lively, and left me feeling as if I was a part of the story. This was the perfect length for the story being told while allowing you to relate to the main character. I can't wait to read or listen to the rest of Kristi Coulter's books.
