Historia
Why are Danes the happiest people in the world? The answer, says Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, is hygge. Loosely translated, hygge - pronounced hoo-ga - is a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. "Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience," Wiking explains. "It is about being with the people we love. A feeling of home. A feeling that we are safe."

Simplicity in everyday habits and conveniences
Revisado: 11-05-24
I thought this was a short, sweet and comprehensive book on how to assemble the most basic ingredients of happiness. A very heart warming listen.

Historia
Donna Seaman brings to dazzling life seven forgotten artists, among the best of their day: Gertrude Abercrombie, with her dark, surreal paintings and friendships with Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Rollins; Bay Area self-portraitist Joan Brown; Ree Morton, with her witty, oddly beautiful constructions; Loïs Mailou Jones of the Harlem Renaissance; Lenore Tawney, who combined weaving and sculpture; Christina Ramberg, who drew on pop culture and advertising; and Louise Nevelson, an art-world superstar.

Good read for any art lovers looking to educate themselves on underrepresented artists
Revisado: 09-19-19
Books such as this and others focusing on female artists (see ‘Broad Strokes’ by Bridget Quinn) are so important for helping to fill the gaps left by art historians & Art History textbooks. Traditional Art History textbooks are woefully notorious for their neglect of female artists. Good read for any art lovers looking to educate themselves on underrepresented artists.
