Historia
Shots rang out in Savannah's grandest mansion in the misty, early morning hours of May 2, 1981. Was it murder or self-defense? For nearly a decade, the shooting and its aftermath reverberated throughout this hauntingly beautiful city of moss-hung oaks and shaded squares. John Berendt's sharply observed, suspenseful, and witty narrative flows like a thoroughly engrossing novel, and yet it is a work of nonfiction.

Intoxicating read
Revisado: 09-10-20
Quirky, charming, enticing, colorful
This text is the type of book that leaves readers wanting more but not being able to understand the reason for their addiction to the gossipy tale. Berendt does an excellent job creating characters, lifelike settings, imagery and honesty towards the enchantment of Savannah’s natives.

Disappointment
Revisado: 11-04-19
Sexual content in a book does not usually bother me, but this one was sickening. The plot was slow-coming, but I did force myself through this book with many regrets. I have read many of Gregory's books, and I can gladly say that this would have been the only book of hers that I would have attempted.

Wow! This text is much, much more than I expected when purchasing. I like historical fiction, but I was hesitant to purchase this piece. Fortunately, I did and I was treated to an eloquent work that I did not want to set aside. I cannot wait to pick up another piece by these two authors.

Flat main character
Revisado: 06-11-17
Ultimately the entire text centers around a flat main character. At the end she realizes her mistakes and that she should have evolved, but she didn't. Thus, she reflects on her lack of ability to socially adapt.

Light & Cheery Fairy-tale
Revisado: 05-15-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Of course, there is the expected temporary disappoint when the couple seems not to make life work out, but ultimately, TToSB is a typical fairy-tale, which delights its readers with its expected and happy ending.

Slow start and expected plot
Revisado: 05-15-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
TSK contains raw undeveloped minor characters, a scripted and expected story-line, and easy conclusions to the "mystery." The overall story was nice but not overly riveting or noteworthy. Furthermore, due to the slow start (over 7 chapters to feign interest), I put this book down twice before returning and restarted. Another complaint that I have is that the connections (events and characters) are too scripted and even forced. Several of the minor characters should have either been further developed or omitted, as their current appearances are almost unnecessary and simply work to prolong the book. Truly, for a character to be established or presented, he or she needs to have a purpose. In this case, many characters and chapters should have been excluded, as Morton spent too much time with these unnecessary details, and they weakened her text causing it to become monotonous and boring. (These undeveloped details and characters are part of the problem with the text's slow start.) Jerry, specifically, is posed to be an important character, but his personality and character traits are undeveloped and possibly suggest that he is autistic, but this is never confirmed due to repetitious comments concerning his genius character and special needs. Another character and event that should not have made the final cut is Dolly's adult character and the party scene for her adult self. These elements need to be further developed to show their significance.

Just couldn't stay hooked
Revisado: 01-03-17
I've tried for two weeks, & I couldn't get hooked on this book. I love K.A. Ticker's other books and have read all, but this one does not live up to her others. (This could be for my own personal lack of imagination and love for vampire storylines though.)

A Win for Sparks
Revisado: 11-09-16
I've never read a book by Sparks that I didn't enjoy, and, likewise is the situation for this one. Initially, I struggled with this book, and I only continued it bc of my previous appreciation and experiences for and with Sparks' work. I am not sure if my initial struggle was with the Fliakos, the male character, or just the book, but I made it through and have come to enjoy and appreciate each of these three. Truly, this text will touch the heart of the reader and present a very likeable character in Russ (Fliakos).

Revisado: 05-09-16
Great plot and well read--however, there are so many different plots playing out that, at times, the storyline is hard to follow. Additionally, although I enjoy happy endings, there was too much of a fairy tale ending for the many various plots.

Sparks' predictability
Revisado: 03-17-16
Let me begin by saying that I never read a book by sparks that I did not appreciate. The same is true with see me. However it has become very predictable as to what's going to happen within stories.
