Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Almost unbelievable
Revisado: 01-05-17
I love non-fiction adventure stories and this one is in my top 5 all time favorites. If I didn't know it happened like it did I'd never believe it was possible.

Historia
For Allena Hansen, a vicious bear attack was "no biggie" compared to the trauma inflicted by her refined '60s upbringing, her stint as Playboy's token intellectual bimbo, and her cowgirl angst, which is enough to knock even Job for a loop.

Allena Hansen has led an incredible life and tells of it with grace, humor, wit and frankness. I enjoyed every minute of this performance/book. Well, at times it was more heart breaking, infuriating or disturbing than enjoyable but that all makes for one hell of a good listen.

Historia
In September 2007, Elissa Wall, the star witness against polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs, gave captivating testimony of how Jeffs forced her to marry her first cousin at age 14. This harrowing account proved to be the most compelling evidence against Jeffs, showing the harsh realities of this closed community and the lengths to which Jeffs went in order to control the sect's women. Now, in this courageous memoir, Wall tells the incredible story of how she emerged from the confines of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints and helped bring one of America's most notorious criminals to justice.

Interesting book... annoying narration
Revisado: 11-09-11
The narrator was very melodramatic. At times I wanted to stop listening and it distracted from the drama and message of the story. WAY overdone. I kept listening because the story was very interesting and I'm glad I did.
