Historia
When Mary Boleyn comes to court as an innocent girl of 14, she catches the eye of the handsome and charming Henry VIII. Dazzled by the king, Mary falls in love with both her golden prince and her growing role as unofficial queen. However, she soon realizes just how much she is a pawn in her family’s ambitious plots as the king’s interest begins to wane, and soon, she is forced to step aside for her best friend and rival: her sister, Anne. With her own destiny suddenly unknown, Mary realizes she must defy her family and take fate into her own hands.

Philippa Gregory is a brilliant writer!

The characterization of each Boleyn sibling makes you feel you know them. The plot is gripping, to the last word. I loved Mary. Anne was cleverly rendered. George, charming and feckless, was doomed by his nature. Henry really became a monster. It’s been suggested he had syphilis, which made him insane. Jane died in childbirth and he rode away from her because he hated illness. Her Edward son lived only until 15 or so, dying of tb. His final wife, Kate Latimer, escaped only because he died before he could murder her too.

I wish I could write a move positive review
Revisado: 05-28-21
I think the problem is that initially I found it trying that the narrator spoke so slowly. It wasn’t until very late in the book that I found I could adjust this.
The convolutions of the plot were exciting. But I felt the book lacking, probably because I read it at a difficult time...
