Jinger, along with three of her sisters, wrote a New York Times bestseller about their religious convictions. She believed this level of commitment would guarantee God's blessing, even though in private she felt constant fear that she wasn't measuring up to the high standards demanded of her.

Help for those struggling with legalism!
Revisado: 04-12-24
I really enjoyed this book! Although I didn’t grow up as conservative at Jinger, I could relate to a lot of what she was talking about. I have been struggling with “keeping rules” or “trying to be good” aka trying to keep some perfect form of obedience all my life. This has been a burden and destructive to my faith and relationship with God. I am still untangling false beliefs I have had from churches or Christian culture I grew up in. Thank you Jinger for writing this book! I can see it helping a lot of people come to a biblical understanding of what it means to be a Christian!

Historia
Law of Attraction: A Gateway Drug to Spiritual Heroin by Jon Clash is a compelling book that shines a light on the dark side of the self-help industry. Clash draws from his personal experiences and research to expose the deceptive tactics used by gurus to exploit vulnerable individuals seeking success and happiness. He reveals how the Law of Attraction can lead to a dangerous addiction, where individuals become fixated on chasing feelings and spiritual highs, ultimately leading to a deep-seated dependency on the very gurus who sold it to them.

Important Message!
Revisado: 12-01-23
I really enjoyed this book. This book is so important for those who are practicing the law of attraction as well as those people in the church who are hearing the same message at church. so many people today are mixing Christianity with the New Age and the law of attraction. They don’t see the harm that they are in. I really appreciate how Jon shared the gospel message at the end of his book. Excellent.

Millions of people go to enormous lengths to achieve fame. Fame is woven into our lives in ways that may have been unimaginable in years past. Mining decades of experience, writer, director, producer, and actress Justine Bateman writes a visceral, intimate look at the experience of Fame. Combining the internal reality-shift of the famous, theories on the public’s behavior at each stage of a famous person’s career, and the experiences of other famous performers, Bateman takes the listener inside and outside the emotions of Fame.

Revisado: 04-07-21
Justine is a very good writer and audio performer of her book. She is very vulnerable and raw. I feel sorry for the pain she has endured due to her fame. This book is not what I thought it would be. It is much more heavy. I thought it would be a bit happier and give me some sort of guru insight into fame, but I did not get that. The language is a bit much for me. I do not like course language. This book reaffirms that it is better to not be famous and that fame should not be the summation of your self-worth. If it is then when you no longer have fame or less fame than your self-esteem with suffer. In fairness, I have no idea what it is like to be famous. I can only imagine. I use to be star-struck and desired to seek fame, but thank God I have found my value in Christ now.

Language defines us as a species, placing humans head and shoulders above even the most proficient animal communicators. But it also beguiles us with its endless mysteries, allowing us to ponder why different languages emerged, why there isn't simply a single language, how languages change over time and whether that's good or bad, and how languages die out and become extinct.

Revisado: 08-17-20
I am not quite finished with these lectures. I have 3 hours to go, but want to say I recommend this series. I tried to listen to as much as I could. I think I burned myself out. The story of language is fascinating and John McWhorter makes it so interesting and entertaining. He would make me laugh out of the blue and I really need to laugh more these days! I learned to much. I recommend this. Thank you John McWhorter! :)

Historia
Dave Rubin launched his political talk show The Rubin Report in 2015 as a meeting ground for free thinkers who realize that partisan politics is a dead end. He hosts people he both agrees and disagrees with - including those who have been dismissed, deplatformed, and despised - taking on the most controversial issues of our day. As a result, he’s become a voice of reason in a time of madness. Now, Rubin gives you the tools you need to think for yourself in an age when tribal outrage is the only available alternative.

Revisado: 08-17-20
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it. I appreciate Dave Rubin. He is a really cool guy and appreciate how he is so nice and listens to people he doesn't fully agree with rather than shouting like (some people). He is very thoughtful and reasonable and it would be nice to meet him someday! Oh, after reading this I declared my voting intentions on Facebook which was liberating and freeing. However, I think I alienated family members.

Historia
Linguists have been studying Black English as a speech variety for years, arguing to the public that it is different from Standard English, not a degradation of it. Yet false assumptions and controversies still swirl around what it means to speak and sound "Black." In his first book devoted solely to the form, structure, and development of Black English, John McWhorter clearly explains its fundamentals and rich history while carefully examining the cultural, educational, and political issues that have undermined recognition of this transformative, empowering dialect.

Historia
In this captivating memoir, Doreen Virtue chronicles her journey in discovering everything she believed in was a lie. She poignantly shares the price she’s paid for following Jesus. New Age teachings are based on concepts that sound almost irresistible. But they come with a hidden price: Your eternal destiny. Here is a riveting, personal confessional of how a former false prophet learned to trust God after nearly wasting a lifetime being independent and willful - trying to predict and control the future - and how Jesus saved her soul from deception and opened her eyes to his truth.

Revisado: 08-16-20
I really enjoyed listening to this book. I am so glad that Doreen has become a born-again Christian. I remember coming across her angel videos before she was a Christian and that is how I even knew who she was. I have been a Christian since I was 5 years old, but recently realized that many of my beliefs are not based on God's Word as well as learning I needed to examine the teachings of the churches I have been involved with. Doreen's emphasis is on God's Word and has many scripture references for this book. I appreciate Doreen's testimony so much and think it is so powerful. I thank God for giving her courage to stand up for her beliefs even though she has been under such enormous pressure from the outside world. I highly recommend this book! This is a really good book and worth reading. I am glad that I made the purchase.

Not What I Thought It Would be.
Revisado: 08-16-20
Overall, I want to say she did a good job writing and narrating her book. She was funny at times. I was off put by the title and didn't really want to listen to this, but I did. I agree with a lot of what she said, but to me it was a little confusing and seemed to jump around with the topics. I guess I was expecting or would have liked a more fleshed out version of why I am not enough and a Biblical view of how to relate to myself and reassurance of God's love. Although, it may be true to say that I am not enough, saying or reading that sentence makes me feel really bad. I didn't really enjoy this book that much. But others may find it helpful.

Historia
When best-selling author Joyce Meyer posted "God's not mad at you" on Facebook, she didn't anticipate that her words would trigger thousands of responses of gratitude and relief. Apparently many Christians struggle to reconcile their perception of God as both a loving parent and a stern judge. In God Is Not Mad at You, Joyce will help those who haven't truly received God's love because they are afraid of his anger and disapproval.
