Inspiring
Revisado: 12-28-22
Attitude, healthy spirituality, and hard work are an unbeatable recipe to a fulfilling life. In that regard, Ben Carson's story is an amazing example of how his personal spiritual journey opened doors to a dream unique to the American experience. I am grateful for his realism, and his optimism regarding his circumstances growing up, the perseverance of a loving mother in spite of a broken home, the centrality of God, The damage done to disadvantage people by the welfare and education systems, how he dealt with racial bias and how he found that racial bias strangely missing amongst co-workers and team members who saw themselves as fellow human beings determined to bring healing to those who needed it most. In short, an inspiring, relatively fast-paced story worth reading.

N. T. Wright argues that every world view must explain seven “signposts”, indicators inherent to humanity. Using the Gospel of John as his source, Wright shows how Christianity defines each signpost and illuminates why we so often see them as being "broken" and unattainable. Drawing on the wisdom of the Gospels, Wright explains why these signposts are fractured and damaged and how Christianity provides the vision, guidance, and hope for making them whole once again, ultimately healing ourselves and our world.

Refreshing
Revisado: 08-02-22
I use the word "refreshing", because N. T. Wright provides a framework for making sense of how the Good News of Jesus functions in a world full of bad news- and how Jesus leads the way into the new creation of which all who follow Jesus are a part. I highly recommend Broken Signposts.

In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea - and to freedom.

Heartfelt true story
Revisado: 05-03-22
I was very taken by the story. Though the narrator had a pronounced accent, it added authenticity to this story. so many of us are oblivious to how evil life can be for many. "In Order to Live" gives us all reason to offer compassion to those who have suffered and to stand against corruption and Injustice in our own country. In reading the story you will not take freedom for granted.

Historia
“If I were God, what would you want for Christmas?” With a thousand-yard stare, a haggard and bloodied marine looked incredulously at the war correspondent who asked him this question. In an answer that took “almost forever,” the marine responded, “Give me tomorrow." After nearly four months of continuous and bloody combat in Korea, such a wish seemed impossible.

Unbelievable
Revisado: 01-31-21
O'Donnell does the impossible making the chaos of war and the heart wrenching experience of the soldier comprehendable. Give me Tommorow was hard for me to put down. O'Donnell also doesn't sugar coat or sensationalize anything. I will never see a combat veteran the same.

A Childhood Favorite
Revisado: 12-13-20
Black Beauty was a favorite read as a kid. I picked it up in Audible and was not disappointed. The characters were fresh, and the dramatization was enjoyable.
