Historia
Ten years ago, Craig Johnson wrote his first short story, the Hillerman Award-winning "Old Indian Trick". This was one of the earliest appearances of the sheriff who would go on to star in Johnson’s best-selling, award-winning novels and the A&E hit series Longmire. Each Christmas Eve thereafter, fans rejoiced when Johnson sent out a new short story featuring an episode in Walt’s life that doesn’t appear in the novels; over the years, many have asked why they can’t buy the stories in book form.

Historia
Virgil's always been known for having a somewhat active, er, social life, but he's probably not going to be getting too many opportunities for that during his new case. While competing in a fishing tournament in a remote area of northern Minnesota, he gets a call from Lucas Davenport to investigate a murder at a nearby resort.

Virgil Flowers is great!
Revisado: 11-12-12
I love this series by John Sandford. Virgil is just the right kind of smart gilded with vunerable. I like my heros with lots of intuitiveness and just a little "misguidedness". Virgil has just the right blend. Some people may not like the background - lesbianism, but Virgil's persuit of the answers/killer is the really interesting part of this for me.

Historia
The thrilling new Virgil Flowers novel from the #1 New York Times best-selling author. The superstore chain PyeMart has its sights set on a Minnesota river town, but two very angry groups want to stop it: local merchants, fearing for their businesses, and environmentalists, predicting ecological disaster. The protests don't seem to be slowing the project, though, until someone decides to take matters into his own hands.

Good Virgil Flowers novel.
Revisado: 11-05-12
Plenty of excitement. Plenty of interest to keep you listening. Had me guessing until the end. I have just recently discovered Virgil Flowers, and he seems to be an "aw shucks" type of hero. I enjoy heroes who are usually right, and this one is.

Jack Reacher is my hero
Revisado: 10-08-12
I love to escape with a super hero, and Jack Reacher is certainly a super hero. He is the strongest, the smartest, and the biggest (almost). He's certainly the 'baddest'. Jack figures it out and wins the day in the end. In this world of weak-kneed, namby-pamby, and wishy-washy, Jack is an escapist's dream. Love me some Jack Reacher.

Historia
In 1974, a revolutionary group calling itself the Dread Scott Brigade held up the old Shawmut Bank in Boston's Audubon Circle. Money was stolen. And a woman named Emily Gordon, a visitor in town cashing traveler's checks, was shot and killed. No one saw who shot her. Despite security camera photos and a letter from the group claiming responsibility, the perpetrators have remained at large for nearly three decades. Now it's up to Spenser to solve her murder.

Joe Mantegna is Spencer
Revisado: 10-02-12
I love the Spencer books, and Joe Mantegna makes him come alive for me. The story is "good trumps evil" even it does smash a few folks around and maybe leaves some not-so-alive. The story was a great read and a small escape into the land where "everything works out in the end".

Historia
Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: "You got the wrong guy". Then he says: "Get Reacher for me". And sure enough, from the world he lives in - no phone, no address, no commitments - ex-military investigator Jack Reacher is coming. In Lee Child's astonishing thriller, Reacher's arrival will change everything - about a case that isn't what it seems, about lives tangled in baffling ways, about a killer who missed one shot - and by doing so gives Jack Reacher one shot at the truth.

Historia
Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does, even down to how he butters his toast. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning the mail arrives, and within the stack of quotidian minutiae is a letter addressed to Harold in a shaky scrawl from a woman he hasn’t seen or heard from in twenty years. Queenie Hennessy is in hospice and is writing to say goodbye.

Couldn't like the main characters
Revisado: 08-13-12
This book plods along. I had to wait until almost the last few pages (last CD) to like the characters even a little bit. I did enjoy the descriptions of the things that Harold saw as he walked, but that wasn't really enough. If this had been a paperback (or even a hardback), I would have put this book down after the first few chapters and not picked it back up again (well, maybe I'd try to get into it later...) As it was I found myself fast forwarding through many of the CD's that I had burned). You might really like this book, but it wasn't for me.

Historia
When a group of publishers and writers hires Wolfe to solve a case of false plagiarism, it's time for the great detective to hit the books. Four unrelated accusers - including a down-and-out hack writer and a lady poet with a penchant for nude sunbathing - have been fleecing best-selling authors, claiming the authors have stolen their work and ingeniously planting evidence to back up their claims.

This was an earlier version of Nero Wolfe than I had read before (thought I'd read them all, but I hadn't read this one). I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to Nero Wolfe fans - not the best Wolfe but very enjoyable.

Historia
When 14-year-old Mattie Sullivan asks Spenser to look into her mother’s murder, he’s not completely convinced by her claim that the police investigation four years ago was botched. Mattie is gruff, street-smart, and wise beyond her years, left to care for her younger siblings and an alcoholic grandmother in a dilapidated apartment in South Boston. But her need for closure and her determination to make things right hit Spenser where he lives - they’re the very characteristics he abides by.

Loved, loved, loved it.
Revisado: 06-04-12
Ace Atkins is truely Robert B. Parker's clone. Lullaby reads just like one of Parker's Spencer novels. I was bummed out when I read that Parker had died because I thought that Spencer had died with him. Fortunately Ace Atkins is channeling Parker 'cause it's him - it's Spencer. Great book.

Not enough Poirot for me.
Revisado: 05-22-12
The story was great. The narrator, David Suchet, was wonderful (as usual), but there wasn't enough Poirot for me. The Poirot chararacter was sprinkled in during the trial at the beginning, but didn't really appear again until near the end of the book. Although the characters were well done, I really read Poirot mysteries for Poirot. He eventually solved the case, but I was left wanting more...more Poirot. This is just my bias, and hopefully, this won't dissuade you from reading this book.
