Meditations is former U.S. President Bill Clinton's favorite book. This audio consists of a series of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor 161-180 AD, setting forth his ideas on Stoic philosophy.

Ok, but you need to love history & philosophy to appreciate it.
Revisado: 12-23-19
This was a hard book to get through, mainly because Marcus wrote it for himself without the intention of anyone else reading it. It‘s insightful of the man but it can be contradictory and you have to really love stoicism to enjoy it. I have to admit that while I enjoy philosophy, I am not enough of a student of it to appreciate it like some others might. What I did enjoy was a glimpse inside the mind of one of the most respected Roman emperors and is very interesting from that perspective.

Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

Pseudo-intellectual and revisionist
Revisado: 08-09-19
Save your time and your money. The whiny and religious finger wagging of the author is absolutely unbearable.

Historia
"A religious fundamentalist, a political operative, a primitive sermonizer, and an accomplice of worldly secular powers. Her mission has always been of this kind. The irony is that she has never been able to induce anybody to believe her. It is past time that she was duly honored and taken at her word." Among his many books, perhaps none have sparked more outrage than The Missionary Position, Christopher Hitchens's meticulous study of the life and deeds of Mother Teresa.

Any additional comments?
A contrarian view of who Mother Teresa was and what her legacy might really be. While I enjoyed the book I felt it could have gone a little deeper. It encourages the reader to go deeper on their own into her past however advocates for Mother Teresa might just view the book as character assassination. It will certainly spark debate among people which is worth it alone. It also raises the question of motivation among some religious people in relation to charity.

Historia
Christopher Hitchens continues to make the case for a splendidly godless universe in this first-ever gathering of the influential voices past and present that have shaped his side of the current (and raging) God/no-god debate. With Hitchens as your erudite and witty guide, you'll be led through a wealth of philosophy, literature, and scientific inquiry, including generous portions of the words of Lucretius, Benedict de Spinoza, Charles Darwin, Karl Marx, Mark Twain, and more.

Introduction to great atheist thinkers
Revisado: 09-24-17
Would you listen to The Portable Atheist again? Why?
Yes. To reenforce the history and philosophy of the people Hitchens speaks about and to reacquaint myself with their writings on a basic level.
Any additional comments?
A wonderful book to introduce you to atheists of history and you get a good foundation for what makes up modern atheistic thought. The book also wants me to go back and read the people Hitchens references for a deeper insight into who they are and how they thought about religion.
