Sweet Story, Excellent Narrator
Revisado: 07-31-24
I've been interested in the royal family for several years. This book has been on my TBR list for a while, so when I saw it available through the Audible Plus program, I downloaded it immediately. The story of the two princesses growing up is really vert sweet. There isn't anything outrageous or scandalous revealed but it is still very interesting, nonetheless. The narrator's tone & accent seems very posh, which I felt really brought the people & the era to life. Overall, this was a great listen.

Historia
During the year 1866, ships of several nations spot a mysterious sea monster, which some suggest to be a giant narwhal. The United States government assembles an expedition in New York City to find and destroy the monster. Professor Pierre Aronnax, a French marine biologist and narrator of the story, who happens to be in New York at the time, receives a last-minute invitation to join the expedition which he accepts. Canadian whaler and master harpoonist Ned Land and Aronnax's faithful servant Conseil are also brought aboard.

Great performance!

I really enjoyed the narrator. He somehow managed to make all the voices sound different. The story is good but sometimes bogged down with mathematical equations & such. Of course, that is to be expected. Overall, it was very enjoyable.

So, so
Revisado: 07-24-21
The first story was of very little interest to me. The narrator had a pleasing voice but I just couldn't follow the story. I skipped most of it to get to the second story, which was the one I really wanted.
The story itself was very good. The narrator was not. Her accent was a little to thick & slurred at times & too light & breathless at others. If there was any other background noise around me, I had trouble hearing her, even with my volume turned all the way up. She's very good playing Miss Marple but not so good as the primary narrator. If there is another version, get that one, not this.

I love to read but I have a hard time getting into audiobooks. I just can't seem to want to pay much attention to them, so I mostly listen to them at bedtime to help me fall asleep. This is one of the few that really caught and held my attention all the way through. The cast was perfect and really managed to capture the spirit of the story. I completely enjoyed this one.

This book was free, so I "purchased" without sampling first. The narrator sounds far away & there is a little static. You can understand what she's saying but it's not really enjoyable. I only listened to a few minutes, so it's possible it clears up further into the story. I'm sure there is a better version available. I don't recommend this one.

I have been a fan of the #IMomSoHard videos for a couple of years. When I heard they had a book coming out, I was intrigued. I don't usually read nonfiction. I decided to go the audiobook route since it was Jen & Kristen doing the reading.
These ladies are smart, funny, cool, & completely relatable on many different levels, not just the mom stuff. I really enjoyed listening & there were a lot of points that made me think, points that made me tear up, & laugh out loud.
Since I graduated from college, I've lost touch with my friends from school. I'm a quiet, shy person who has trouble making friends. I don't really have any friends outside of work & my work friends are at much different stages in their lives than I am. So, it's nice hearing that other moms struggle with a lot of the same things I do. Thank you, ladies.
