Historia
Lara J. Clarke is used to getting her own way. Motherless at 10 and raised by her oft-absent eco-warrior/philanthropist grandfather, she lives the high life afforded by her seemingly bottomless trust fund. But then Grandfather Archibald sheds his mortal coil in a very public manner, and Lara’s privileged life is set adrift.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 02-21-22
I loved the summary of the book, but I've barely started and the narrator is driving me nuts. She's breathy and enunciates hard on end consonants... like "ThaT briCK iS reD." I don't think I made it to chapter two. Save yourself and listen to the sample before you buy.

For older toddlers
Revisado: 02-06-22
Great book, but be aware that while the summary mentions toddlers age 2 and older, this book is geared toward kids 3-5 years old.

Historia
Quinn Quicksilver was born a mystery—abandoned at three days old on a desert highway in Arizona. Raised in an orphanage, never knowing his parents, Quinn had a happy if unexceptional life. Until the day of “strange magnetism.” It compelled him to drive out to the middle of nowhere. It helped him find a coin worth a lot of money. And it practically saved his life when two government agents showed up in the diner in pursuit of him. Now Quinn is on the run from those agents and who knows what else, fleeing for his life.

Koontz formula
Revisado: 01-27-22
Dean Koontz used to be my favorite author hands down, but his recent books have become formulaic, revolving around the same theme, involving the same horrific acts, and deploying characters who all sound the same. I had thought/hoped this book would be different based on the description. I was wrong. I used to plow through Koontz books -- couldn't put them down! Now I'm just bored.

Poor narration
Revisado: 01-22-22
Couldn't get close to finishing it. The narrator is soft, breathy and annoying, no matter which character or emotion she's narrating. Can't stand it anymore.
