FANTASTIC Hero and Villain short stories
Revisado: 11-10-24
This book has a PHENOMENAL collection of short stories, each of them wholly unique and compelling. All of them felt like a natural expansion of HL Burke’s SVR universe, but also stand on their own. I loved every single story, all so well written, exciting, and full of hope, but I’d have to say that “Oh, Snap” and “Play Date” would probably be my favorites.

Historia
In the mist-shrouded haze of the past, the world of Azeroth teemed with wondrous creatures of every kind. Mysterious Elves and hardy Dwarves walked among tribes of Man in relative peace and harmony - until the arrival of the demonic army known as the Burning Legion shattered the world's tranquility forever. Now Orcs, Dragons, Goblins, and Trolls all vie for supremacy over the scattered, warring kingdoms - part of a grand, malevolent scheme that will determine the fate of the world of Warcraft.

A great read even if you don’t know WoW lore.
Revisado: 03-18-24
I knew nothing about World of Warcraft lore before reading this, all I wanted was a decent book about orcs—a feat that seems almost impossible these days. But boy did this book deliver, and I’m so glad I read it. I fell in love with Thrall and very much enjoyed listening to his story.

This book is really… neat. :)
Revisado: 02-28-24
What’s this “As you wish” or “I love you, I know” business? All I want to hear is “I think you’re really neat.” 🥹
I don’t think Allison could write anything that I didn’t consume me heart and soul. This book was absolutely DARLING and had me giggling and groaning and squealing all the way through it. The ending had me melting.
I didn’t vibe with the narrator at first because every word out of Burndee’s mouth sounded like he was stifling untold rage, but honestly it actually suited his character perfectly. 😂

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Entertaining
Revisado: 04-18-23
3.5 stars. A very entertaining listen. This story felt like a speed run, and Yui’s class as a bag mage was very interesting and offered really cool solutions to your stereotypical dungeon crawl. My only issue is that it went by so fast that there was no character development, and huge chunks of time were glossed over. This was such a fun concept and it would have been great to see it expanded o . Also, I was a little disappointed with the villain: I was hoping the Demon King would be another speed runner, some random background character brute-forcing his way into villaindom as a mirror Yui, but alas it was not to be.
