Make a Long Story Short
Revisado: 03-02-15
What did you love best about I Must Say?
I love the stories that Martin shares. He is so very funny and seems like a genuinely nice guy. It was really fun to hear stories that involve famous people that I recognized that are actual friends of Martin.
What was one of the most memorable moments of I Must Say?
The book begins with Martin having a disagreement with his wife Nancy. She calls out his character Ed to deal with the issue. I love that she fails to acknowledge him until he comes out as Ed, even looking over his shoulder calling for his alter ego. lol
What a great start to the book.
I loved too the stories of Martin meeting his idols and in one way or another - due to something he says or does - the situation ends with 'Damn thee Martin Short.'
What does Martin Short bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Martin Short is such a good mimic and storyteller. I loved hearing him tell his story. Especially the love story of he and his wife. No one else could have done the job. I loved the book so much that I started listening to it as soon as I finished it.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
He makes me laugh!
Any additional comments?
I think he represents Canada very well.

Great Mystery with Appealing Characters
Revisado: 02-21-15
Where does Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This one ranks up with the highest. I really enjoyed it.
What did you like best about this story?
Abigail is so clever. I found her saying things that you want her to say. She is independant yet not hardened. She is able to take care of herself but inspires others to care about her. I like her gumption.
What does Elizabeth Michaels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I enjoyed her voice. It helped me picture the main character and she did well on the others as well. She seemed to have as much fun reading the book as I had listening to it.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I loved the scene with Abigail and her sister - just ordinary sister stuff. Then Abigail starts a reading for Kat out of the blue and Kat runs to get a book to write down what she is saying. She apparently puts great trust in her sister's abilities.
Any additional comments?
I would never go to a psychic myself and I would not recommend others to do it. But the character is enjoyable and I put this in a good read catagory.

Cliffhanger in Time
Revisado: 11-30-14
Would you try another book from Rysa Walker and/or Kate Rudd?
Maybe....I enjoyed the first one Timebound....so I would give benefit of the doubt and try them again.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Disgusted. I did not feel I had a decent feeling of closure. I felt I was duped into having to read the next installment due to the cliffhanger.
After the first book I felt it was a finished story but hoped it would continue as it was well written and I enjoyed the characters. But...this time...I felt manipulated....ending was not good....just a feeling of 'haha you have to read on'. Not cool.
What three words best describe Kate Rudd’s performance?
I have heard worse....but I have heard better. The female voices are well done....but the male voices are lacking. Except for Keiren who has an Irish accent...all of the male characters sound exactly alike. Please....mix it up a little....stretch yourself and try something new to fix this. Other ladies have done it successfully....no reason why you can't.
Could you see Time's Edge being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
If Hunger Games and Twilight can be...surely there is room for this story.
Any additional comments?
So much good to this story. I enjoyed it sooooo very much. I feel the ending robbed me of my delight in the overall book.

Historia
Brooke Shields never had what anyone would consider an ordinary life. She was raised by her Newark-tough single mom, Teri, a woman who loved the world of show business and was often a media sensation all by herself. Brooke's iconic modeling career began by chance when she was only 11 months old, and Teri's skills as both Brooke's mother and her manager were formidable. But in private she was troubled and drank heavily.

Mother Dearest (No Sarcasm)
Revisado: 11-30-14
Where does There Was a Little Girl rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Within top ten. I found it interesting and thoughtful.
What did you like best about this story?
Motherhood is hard. Teri was dealing with alcoholism and being a single mom. I think she did the best she could. I am glad that Brook shows love for her mother despite the negative things.
What about Brooke Shields’s performance did you like?
She was as honest as she could be about her mom....then she followed through and spoke of her daughters and her relationship with them. I connected on a certain level and hope that my daughter can see me in the same light as Brook sees her mom. She deals with her mom's imperfections but loves her all the same. Even standing ready to defend her.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes. Toward the end especially...seeing what Brook took from her relationship with her mom and applied it to her relationship with her girls. I was deeply touched.
Any additional comments?
Thank you Brook for the peek into your world. I happily read your version of your life with your mother. I feel it helps me look at my relationship with my daughter in a new light. Thank you.

Historia
Canadians fell in love with Pierre Elliott Trudeau’s beautiful and high-spirited bride when he brought her to the world stage as the youngest First Lady in the history of the country. But the situation wasn’t as rosy as it seemed. Plagued by mood swings and unprepared for public life, Margaret became increasingly isolated at 24 Sussex, as her depression alternated with bouts of mania. As her behavior became more puzzling - even to Margaret herself - she did her best to mother her three young sons.

Reflective Memories
Revisado: 11-30-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I think you learn more about bipolar from this account than trying to wade through a text book. It is an honest account and while you may not mirror her life...as hers was exceptional and in the global spotlight...you feel a connection at times and this is good.
What did you like best about this story?
I have read her other books about her life...and as is really the case with us all...the reflections take a new twist as she looks back on her life from older wiser eyes. Good for her. I think that anyone who writes a memoir in early part of life should do this and look back....very refreshing.
Would you be willing to try another one of Maureen McAdams’s performances?
No. I would have liked to hear Margaret's voice telling her story. I understand however that some things were probably too painful to discuss. But I kept thinking that Maureen did not capture Margaret...is she from Nova Scotia? I found her voice annoying and it took away from the story.
Was Changing My Mind worth the listening time?
Yes. I enjoyed it. I may not agree witih all decisions that Margaret made. I may find her a bit self centered. But I respect her candor.
Any additional comments?
I would probably read another book by her. Margaret Trudeau is - we must agree - an interesting person. I found the flower child description long winded at the front of the book....but I guess it had to be delved into so that we can understand her story in the end.

Not Just Another Time Travel Book
Revisado: 09-14-14
Where does Timebound rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book was so good...I was disappointed that I have to wait for book two!
What did you like best about this story?
I liked that the main character was mature for her age, yet not old either. She was loving, loyal and sensible. She made choices that had to be made and was a character to believe.
What does Kate Rudd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her voices her supreme. There was a variance to the daughter, mother, and grandmother....they really did sound like three different people though they were obviously related. That was a very subtle technique which added to it for me.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When the heroine met with her father but he did not know her. He saw his eyes in her and while her story was farfetched he believed the unbelievable.
Any additional comments?
I can't wait for the second book. I hope this character progresses and does not stay the same age as did Nancy Drew.
Story was well constructed and not confusing despite the topic.

Historia
In The Diana Chronicles, you will meet a formidable female cast and understand as never before the society that shaped them: among them, Diana's sexually charged mother, her bad-girl sister-in-law, Fergie, and, most formidable of them all, her mother-in-law, the Queen. Add Camilla Parker-Bowles, the ultimate "other woman" into this combustible mix, and it's no wonder that Diana broke out of her royal cage into celebrity culture, where she found her own power and used it to devastating effect.

The Princess that Never Dies
Revisado: 09-14-14
What made the experience of listening to The Diana Chronicles the most enjoyable?
I could not think of anything that was left out.
What did you like best about this story?
Just when you think the writer is biased toward Diana, she gives info that makes you realise that here is a person being presented warts and all and you still love her.
Which scene was your favorite?
I like the way her last day was dealt with. There seemed to be info about the crash that I had not heard before.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes....plus there were times that although you see the best in Diana...there are other times you would have liked to shake her and say WTF! For a loving and caring person....pushing her mother in law down the stairs was totally upsurd! I can't believe she would do that!
Any additional comments?
I think if Diana had shown the empathy and love to those closest to her as she did to strangers she would have been a happier person.
I also think Charles missed a golden opportunity to mould this young girl to be the woman of his dreams. Very sad.

The Saga Continues
Revisado: 09-14-14
What did you love best about Murder in Murray Hill?
The characters age and progress....or at least they seem to....
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes .... the writing is very good. Nice plot development.
What about Suzanne Toren’s performance did you like?
I like the voices except for the little girl's voice and I thought that the male lead was Irish...I hear no hint of an accent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes...like a book you cannot put down.

Spyness Schmyness
Revisado: 09-14-14
What made the experience of listening to Her Royal Spyness the most enjoyable?
I like that she is her own hero! She saved herself when being attacked...good thing too... because the lead male was not much help.
Also she is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and do what is required - unlike her sniveling brother.
What other book might you compare Her Royal Spyness to and why?
Agatha Raisin - the character is not perfect....but is loyal, smart, and ready for anything.
What does Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I like the accents. The male character with the lisp was hysterical!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A Royal Spyness - upstairs gone downstairs
Any additional comments?
A good listen overall....but really slow going. Chapter 14 or 20 before the crime was committed. This may have been due to it being the first one....I am not sure. I will have to check it out.
I hope the character ages and develops.....

Hercule Poirot's quiet supper in a London coffeehouse is interrupted when a young woman confides to him that she is about to be murdered. She is terrified - but begs Poirot not to find and punish her killer. Once she is dead, she insists, justice will have been done. Later that night, Poirot learns that three guests at a fashionable London Hotel have been murdered, and a cufflink has been placed in each one’s mouth. Could there be a connection with the frightened woman?

Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing Baby
Revisado: 09-14-14
What did you love best about The Monogram Murders?
Hercule is always right...even when others think he is wrong. In the end he is Hercule and you cannot take that away from him.
What did you like best about this story?
It had a similar feel to the Death of Roger Akroyd. I was half afraid the author was going to steal that idea...but in the end she made it her own.
What about Julian Rhind-Tutt’s performance did you like?
I enjoyed the narration. Poirot's voice was good....but if I had left the audio for a moment and came back I could not determine the other characters. I found that Jenny's confession was nondescript.... part way through I forgot that it was a woman who was supposed to be speaking.
Jenny, Nancy and the cop could have all been the same person.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was a little anxious....Poirot is not a coffee lover, yet he 'treats' himself to two coffees once a week. Also - since when did Poirot admit to making mistakes! Never - to my memory. I felt the writer did not know the character as well as they could have.
Any additional comments?
I think a story to itself it may have been okay...but the Agatha Christie people could have done better. That is just my humble opinion.
