Historia
We are the most innovative species in the universe. We have created amazing things, from the wheel to the internet. But our innovation has also made us dangerous. The pace of our development is accelerating. Innovations are breeding more innovations in a positive feedback loop that is leading to exponentially increasing rates of change. Our minds cannot grasp the full implications of exponential growth. We think more in terms of linear change, leading us to have a blind spot on the future.

Did the author’s Mom write all the glowing reviews?
Revisado: 07-10-24
I don’t know where all the 4 & 5 star reviews came from, but I didn’t hear anything particularly insightful, moving, or inspiring in this audiobook. I listened to it 3 times just to make sure I didn’t miss anything, but there was nothing. Maybe his other books are better, but this one is disappointing.

Intentionally Misleading Title: Should be called The Just Put Mozart in the title Effect.
Revisado: 03-13-24
For a book called ‘The Mozart Effect’ it barely mentions Mozart and his music. I was looking for an analysis of the genius and how particular compositions affect the mind & moods, and instead got general anecdotes about music therapy. This book could have been summarized in one sentence:
‘Listening to and playing music can make you feel better.’

Historia
Billionaire oligarchs want to own our republic, and they’re nearly there, thanks to legislation and Supreme Court decisions that they have essentially bought. They put Trump and his political allies into office and support a vast network of think tanks, publications, and social media that every day push our nation closer and closer to police-state tyranny.

Book blames the Republicans and conservatives for things Democrats also are responsible for
Revisado: 01-22-24
I like Thom Hartmann’s Hidden History books. They are well-researched, and I have learned a lot about the political & economic history of America from them. But it is disappointing that in every one of these HH books, for as well researched as they seem to be, Hartmann deliberately ignores the historical facts that show the Democrats are as responsible for so many bad things in America’s history as are the Republicans. A prime example in this book in where the author states that the Republicans were responsible for eliminating the chance to declare bankruptcy for student loan debt, when everyone knows Joe Biden introduced & fought for the passage of that law, as a way to do the bidding of his banking lobby donors when he was Senator from Delaware. The obvious erasing of historical facts such as this one, for partisan reasons, makes what could have been an outstanding history book, into one where, because of partisan lying, you have to question EVERYTHING in it for factual accuracy. BAD MOVE THOM HARTMANN!

Historia
“I’m sorry, Mr. Butts, but you have lymphoma and you are already in stage four.” Those words would rattle anyone. Those are the words Dave and Kim Butts heard just 10 days into Dave’s beginning to write this book on prayer and peace. God literally put Dave into a situation where Dave would have to live out what he was planning to teach others in his book. As believers, we know that we are supposed to walk in Christ’s peace day by day. But when the trials, struggles, and stresses of life come upon us, many of us do not appropriate or experience that peace.

Historia
Musicians may just hold the keys to innovation in business. They don’t think like we do, and in the creative process, they don’t act like we do. It’s no coincidence that some of the world’s most respected creators are also entrepreneurs. In Two Beats Ahead, Panos A. Panay, senior vice president for strategy at Berklee College of Music, and R. Michael Hendrix, global design director at IDEO, interview some of the nation’s top musicians and business leaders about how they approach innovation differently.

Historia
The Second Book of the Tao is a gift to contemporary readers, granting us access to our own fundamental wisdom. Mitchell's meditations and risky reimagining of the original texts are brilliant and liberating, not least because they keep catching us off-guard, opening up the heavens where before we saw a roof. He makes the ancient teachings at once modern, relevant, and timeless.
