Historia
Cyril Avery is not a real Avery - or at least that's what his adoptive parents tell him. And he never will be. But if he isn't a real Avery, then who is he? Born out of wedlock to a teenage girl cast out from her rural Irish community and adopted by a well-to-do if eccentric Dublin couple via the intervention of a hunchbacked Redemptorist nun, Cyril is adrift in the world, anchored only tenuously by his heartfelt friendship with the infinitely more glamourous and dangerous Julian Woodbead.

Really surprised about how much I enjoyed this
Revisado: 08-26-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely, except that I'm afraid it makes me sound like some rabid fan of his (not). He has a really interesting story and it's well told. Made me want to go rent West Wing and did watch the Outsiders (though he's not in it much)
What was one of the most memorable moments of Stories I Only Tell My Friends?
I didn't realize he grew up with the Penns and Sheens.
Which character – as performed by Rob Lowe – was your favorite?
Not applicable
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Not just a pretty face
Any additional comments?
It's really a great memoir

Historia
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

Great concept: too right wingish though
Revisado: 01-31-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Love the concept of the book but it the right wing emphasis is not so thinly veiled.
Would you recommend One Second After to your friends? Why or why not?
Not quite because of the politics that come through.
Which scene was your favorite?
When you realize it happened.
Did One Second After inspire you to do anything?
Makes you think about stocking up your pantry.
