Historia
In this sequel to The Princess and the Goblin, Curdie has returned to his life as a miner and has dismissed the supernatural happenings of the past, believing them to have been a dream. When Curdie callously wounds a pigeon, his conscience leads him to Princess Irene's mystical great-great-grandmother for help. She has him plunge his hands into a pile of rose petals that burns like fire. Extraordinarily, this grants him the power to see what kind of "animal" a person is at heart.

Excellent sequel!

The first book, “The Princess and the Goblin” was excellent, but the sequel is even better. You really should listen to the books in order, as you will enjoy them much, much more that way! Love the narrator!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Historia
In December 2017 the famous porn star August Ames committed suicide in a park in the Conejo Valley. It happened a day after she’d been the victim of a pile-on, via Twitter, by fellow porn professionals - punishment for her tweeting something deemed homophobic. A month later, August’s husband, Kevin, connected with Jon Ronson to tell the story of how Twitter bullying killed his wife. What neither Kevin nor Ronson realized was that Ronson would soon hear rumors and secrets hinting at a very different story - something mysterious and unexpected and terrible.

Boring Rendition of a Tawdry Affair
Revisado: 02-13-19
I so rarely write a review, it’s not even funny! But this audio book was just an exercise in frustration. None of the characters (with the exception, perhaps, of the creators) was likable or compelling. The guy who was involved with the suicide victim was particularly annoying and unsympathetic. Just a whining, lying guy trying to play the victim. I got to the point where I could not stand the sound of his voice! The entire experience was a waste of my time, in my humble opinion. The only saving grace is that it was a freebie.

The Door to Summer is an invitation to FUN!
Revisado: 12-07-18
I’ve listened to most of Mr. Heinlein’s books, but it had been quite a while (years) since my last romp into the future. So, when I saw this offering, I decided to take a chance and purchase it. I am so happy that I did because I think that it is by far my favorite book written by him so far. It is fast-paced, well conceived, and just a blast. I loved the protagonist, Danny, he is my kind of guy. And, I have to say that even though he wasn’t featured all that much, I loved Pete, his cat, even more! He reminds me of my cat, also named Pete. Anyway, the thing I loved most is that this story was set in my time, (or my recent time). Even though Heinlein was not quite correct about how things turned out, the book was still very very enjoyable (after all, it is fiction). I would highly recommend this audio book to any Heinlein fan, or even if you haven’t heard any of his other books, I think you would enjoy it. It just may turn you into a Heinlein fan!

Best Audio Book Ever
Revisado: 08-11-17
What made the experience of listening to Star Trek Movie Tie-In the most enjoyable?
I'd already seen the movie, and this audio edition fleshed out the characters wonderfully and gave me an insight into their inner selves that no movie could. If anything, I wish the author would've delved deeper into that aspect, but I'm not complaining, just wishing the audio book could've been longer and more in-depth. But, that's just me being greedy! I didn't want the audio book to end!
I'm a huge fan of the original series, so imagining the characters from that series (a young original Dr McCoy and Scotty) was just a joy to experience. In my imagination, I substituted all of the characters with the original actors, except for Mr. Spock. Since Zachary Quinto so perfectly portrays him, I envisioned him as the young Mr. Spock. Plus, that gave me the option of imagining Leonard Nimoy as the elder Mr. Spock - perfect!
Who was your favorite character and why?
That's a tough call, but Kirk will always be my favorite character. I had such a crush on him from the beginning (I was only 19 or 20 when the original series aired on television, and I was a huge fan right from the start). I think he's absolutely irresistible, and this experience of listening to the book just re-ignited my passion for all things Jim Kirk! It doesn't hurt that both actors who have portrayed him are unbelievably handsome and charismatic. The character and personality of the fictional man (along with all the other inhabitants of the Star Trek universe) are what makes the franchise so amazing to experience, both the television series and the movies, as well. Regardless of the quality of the production (or lack thereof), each television episode and movie is special and cherished.
What about Zachary Quinto’s performance did you like?
What's not to like? I could find nothing about his performance to criticize. He has sublime timing and an innate and flawless sense of rhythm. His accents, though not absolutely perfect, are spot on and consistent. He doesn't slaughter the voice of women, as so many narrators do. He's just one of the very best narrators I've ever experienced, and that's saying a lot because over the past few years, I've listened to a LOT of audio books. I have my favorite narrators (I tend to like guys much more), and now he's at the top of my list.
He's a gifted narrator and I fervently hope that he gives many, many more performances in future (I'll be searching for him and will most likely purchase any production he's a part of). I just wish the producers would compensate the narrators much more. They significantly influence which books I purchase. A bad narrator can ruin a book (and cause it to be returned for credit), and a good one causes me to want to hear more of them. Just saying!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Since it's already been made into a film, no need to answer!
Any additional comments?
This audio book is top notch, and I'd highly recommend it to not only Star Trek fans, but all Sci-Fi enthusiasts, as well. Heck, anybody would enjoy it!

City of Theives - Amazing Book!
Revisado: 01-30-13
Would you consider the audio edition of City of Thieves to be better than the print version?
I've never read the print version, but my guess would be - YES!
Which character – as performed by Ron Perlman – was your favorite?
Colman (the blond one of the pair)
Any additional comments?
I'm not the most fluent of people, but I'd recommend this book very highly. It's packed with adventure and the characters are so well drawn that you feel like you know them and are routing for them (and against their many enemies). The language and behavior of the characters are a little vulgar in places, but it's not the least bit gratuitous.

Prince of Mist Strains Credulity
Revisado: 07-23-12
Would you try another book from Carlos Ruiz Zafon and/or Jonathan Davis?
Yes, both the author and the narrator are excellent.
What could Carlos Ruiz Zafon have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Maybe it's just me, but I like a story that's believable. This one was just too "out there" for me, especially when the ship supposedly rose out of the ocean - come on!!! That was like the straw that broke the camel's back!
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I listened to "Shadow of the Wind" and loved his performance. As usual, Jonathan delivered a wonderful performance throughout. However, the over the top music was a little bit heavy and kind of weird at times, it took away from the performance to some degree.
Did The Prince of Mist inspire you to do anything?
Yes, it caused me to pay more attention to the reviews. Most of them relayed the same info I referenced earlier (i.e. don't bother listening to this one), but I went ahead and wasted my money on it anyway!
Any additional comments?
I think that other than this particular work, Carlos is an outstanding author and I will try some of his other books. Hopefully they won't be as fantastically over the top and incredulous as this one was.
