After the untimely deaths of her aunt and mother, young Riley Mays moved from Chicago to her cousins’ Wisconsin farm. Here she found solace in caring for her extraordinary adoptive brother, exploring the surrounding wild nature, and gazing at the mystical moon - a private refuge in which she hides from her most painful memories. But ten years later, now twenty-one, Riley feels too confined by the protective walls she’s erected around herself. When a stranger enters her family’s remote world, Riley senses something he’s hiding, a desire to escape that she understands well.

Just ok
Revisado: 12-19-22
The plot seemed far fetched to me, and to a certain extent, predictable. The female narrator was better.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Disappointed
Revisado: 12-01-22
For the first time I am very disappointed with a John Grisham book. When I saw it was 17 hours long and narrated by Michael Beck I jumped at the opportunity.
But several hours into it, I can’t seem to remain interested. There doesn’t seem to be a definite story line and the narrative jumps from one character to another. After trying to listen for several hours, I’m going to quit. Next time, I’m going to be skeptical about purchasing another of his books.

Historia
Lizzy Moon never wanted Moon Girl Farm. Eight years ago, she left the land that nine generations of gifted healers had tended, determined to distance herself from the whispers about her family’s strange legacy. But when her beloved grandmother Althea dies, Lizzy must return and face the tragedy still hanging over the farm’s withered lavender fields: the unsolved murders of two young girls, and the cruel accusations that followed Althea to her grave.

Just ok

I might have given this book a better review if the narrator had been someone else. I did not care for her voice at all. She sounded as if she were about to faint or pass out. It was pretty annoying
