Historia
Lane McCord wakes up in a hospital having survived a near-fatal fall at a North Carolina beach cottage. Her boyfriend, Kyle, wasn’t so lucky. A senseless tragedy on their first romantic getaway. All Lane remembers is lying at the bottom of the stairs in Kyle’s pooling blood. Confused and grieving, Lane plans to return to the cottage, collect her personal belongings, and get out. Until a winter rainstorm leaves her stranded and vulnerable, but not alone. A concerned neighbor, who claims he heard a violent argument before the accident, has come out of the storm.

The dialog is painfully cringe….full of cliches and tacky one liners that you never hear ppl say out loud.

Shallow plot - unlikable main characters
Revisado: 11-25-24
Every character spoke and acted like teenagers. The two main characters were so frustrating and acted infuriatingly passive right up until the final 30 min. Could barely get through it, but thankfully it was a freebie.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Combined two of my favorite things, sarcasm & murder mystery. I loved everything about this.

The narrator os terrible
Revisado: 03-02-24
I am only on chapter 6 and I don’t know if I can finish this- can’t stand the narrator-why do people living in Boston and New England have southern accents (and no it’s not just Chloe) or the same short, jerky, whiny way to speak? The narrator is really doing a number on this book and it’s hard to listen to…can’t get into the characters when I can’t get past the horrible, speaking voice, she attributes to each of them. The breathy way she ends the words…her delivery of the dialogue is infuriating…. She is taking a good story and making it horrible to get past her voice. She’s going to ruin this series if she narrates all of them.

Historia
Bree’s new home is luxurious and private, with a fancy Beverly Hills address. What a shame it’s not hers. Widowed, penniless, living in her car, and out of options, she’s climbed the fence and crashed in the pool house. All she wants is a good night’s sleep. But when Sophie, the absentee owner, finds her, she gets a whole lot more.

Lacking credibility & believable plot
Revisado: 09-23-23
Wish the author researched FBI protocols & court proceedings a bit….it felt like an amateur, teen book when discussing any law enforcement details etc. there were parts it also felt very condescending & preachy in an odd way. Performance of the readers was good, but It just felt very teen novel to me….missed opportunity to have a very gripping story.

Historia
Colette “Coco” Weber has relocated to her Catalina Island home, where, twenty years before, she was the sole survivor of a deadly home invasion. All Coco wants is to see her aunt Gwen, get as far away from her ex as possible, and get back to her craft—writing obituaries. Thankfully, her college best friend, Maddy, owns the local paper and has a job sure to keep Coco busy, considering the number of elderly folks who are dying on the island. But as Coco learns more about these deaths, she quickly realizes that the circumstances surrounding them are remarkably similar....

Just under six hours to go and I can’t finish
Revisado: 09-09-23
Zero interest in what happened to any of the characters- so far no one is likable and I have no interest in how this unfolds. So far it’s not scary. It’s not a mystery. It’s not a thriller. It’s just annoying and I’m so bored I can’t keep track of the characters.

Historia
The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find something that shatters everything.... Sparkling green eyes, square jaw, lopsided smile. A young man with his arm around a beautiful woman. The picture is old and faded, but I’d recognize him anywhere. The man is my husband.

Weak main female character
Revisado: 07-08-22
I’m always disappointed when the main female narrator is weak and naive. The action parts of story during climax were frustrating to listen to and whiney…not exciting, nor suspenseful..combo of writing style and narration. The plot was good but delivery not great - needed more suspense and mystery to it…came off as just 2 boring, unhappy families barely able to plan and enjoy a basic short vacation rather than a twisty thriller.

Weak woman who is a terrible mother as a main lead
Revisado: 03-10-22
If you like strong female leads this is not the book for you. The protagonist is a woman who refuses to get a job so she can spend more time with her child yet forces child out of school she loves to move into apartment so she can mooch off other people and continue to not work for longer. insufferable how naïve, lazy and wants someone else to take care of her at all costs Fraya is.
