How many Christians fail to recognize the invaluable wealth of spiritual resource available to them in these masterpiece sermons of Finney. For me, what sets Finney's works apart from that of other classic works by the likes of Spurgeon, Whitfield, Bunyan, and many others, is the raw, ruthless pragmatism and directness of Finney. He gives plain and practical directions for specific ends. In the case of this book, that end is starting, promoting, and sustaining revival. Having read his memoirs (autobiography), I can say that there's no more qualified expert on that subject in my opinion.
Some of the subject he deals with are as relevant today as in his day. A few are not.
The narrator does an excellent job. The gravity and dept of his tone matches what I would imagine Finney's personality to be.
In all, a great treasure is this audiobook. I can't recommend it enough.

Timeless Classic Needed Today!

This book was written from a place of deep conviction and deep hunger for an authentic first-hand experience of the God of the Bible in a way that transforms and irreversibly addicts one to God's presence. It is a passionate, even desparate, appeal to God-hungry Christians to aim for and pursue the highest of all treasures: GOD HIMSELF, possessed in a real and intimate friendship, that not only transforms the Christian's life but that of people around him/her. It is an appeal for the church to settle for no less than an abiding, ongoing revival.
The author contrasts stale lukewarm church services or Christianity with one that is quickened by an distinct sense of God's active presence with the evidence of supernatural conversions, transformed communities and miraculous answers to prayers of all kinds. He contrasts the "Glory" with a preacher's anointing or a gifting, citing the "Glory" as the manifest presence of GOD and having far more transformative power than a preacher's anointing.
I will definitely be listening to this many times again. Every church leader hungry for a visitation of God should have his whole church reading this.

Very rich and extensive coverage of his works.

Very rich and profound. The narrator did a great job too. He seemed to pronounce each word with a sense of the weightiness of meaning that is worthy of Eckhart's sermons.

Brief but very rich content

This short address on the practice of an inner spiritual life is best described by the axiom, dynamites come in small packages. There are many powerful one-liners, both from the author and quotes of other greats ( like A W Tozer, Teresa of Avila, Mike Buckle, and over a dozen others). You want to pause and reflect from time to time as you go through this audio book. It is very rich content, and is best taken in small bits at a time.

I have found the content of this book to be more helpful than any other material I have read on the subject. I feel any teacher who takes the time to put the principles of this book to practice in the classroom will soon be a very happy and celebrated teacher.

Balanced, complete, and very enlightening.

This is about as comprehensive and as balanced a coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as you can hope to find. Granted, it is a topic that is almost impossible to discuss without, at least, a tiny measures e of bias. This author however maintained a high level of professional objectivity and fairness in mentioning the wrongs of both sides. However, in the end, the facts in this book should leave the worst critic of Israel either converted in his or her position or speechless. I can't see how any rational person can do otherwise after seeing the facts plainly and objectivity laid out in this very well written and detailed history. I noticed that the author, knowing the polarity of this issue, took extra pains to leave his opinion out of the discussion and let the reader follow the very plain path of logic pointing out where the blame lies for this crisis.
The narrator did an excellent job also.

Finally found one that works for me!

After trying so many Spanish lesson books on audible, I was very close to giving up, when I randomly purchased this one. It has restored my diminishing hope of learning this language. It doesn't contain as much content per buck compared to the others, every bit of content in it is very useful to your learning. By far the best way to teach conversational Spanish.

Bias against people of faith is unrelenting.

Author Constantly aims to dimiss the views of people of faith as superstitious or ignorant. Historians should relate facts objectively, not with a secret design to indoctrinate his audience into his own worldview. If you're a skeptic, atheist or agnostic, you may get this. If you're a person of faith, look elsewhere.

All the most useful verbs in Spanish!

This is the first in a series of audible language learning books that I've purchased that I can say I'm pleased with. The book does exactly what it promises. It's straight to the point, going over a dozens of the most essential verbs, using the same sentence in I, YOU, HE/SHE, WE, THEY, YOU (plural), each in present, past and future. There are 36 phrases per verb. My only wish is that there was some sort of PDF document or something for reference; pretty much a transcript of the audio. I am mostly pleased however by the choice of verbs included.
