Historia
Classes evolve, roles shift, and in the city of Liscor, change is happening. The Horns of Hammerad are growing as adventurers, rising in the eyes of the city and the surrounding lands. They've survived, and they've leveled, but new levels also bring new problems. Izril is still facing turmoil as nobles fight and squabble while Liscor breathes again and heals, trying to find a new way forward. The best cure for dark days? Games! And none know it better than the oldest adventurers, who've lived through countless struggles.

This one was a snoozer
Revisado: 08-03-24
Not as enjoyable as the others, but I guess still worth the continued story. The story focused on what seemed like multiple tangents that didn't really hold in appeal. I found myself fast forwarding 5 minutes… Fast forwarding another five minutes… Fast forwarding 10 minutes…. And then it finally got to the point. Some of the explanations and descriptions were sooooo drawn out that became boring. I probably skipped at least two hours total within this particular audiobook. Compared to all of the other Wandering Inn books. This was, by far, my least favorite. it seems like the author was committed to writing this book with an a specific timeline and just wrote to complete a job. I do look forward to the next book and hope it is not like this one but rather like all of the earlier ones

"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Very enjoyable, plan on getting the next Books!
Revisado: 08-18-23
I would probably rate this with 4.5 stars rather than just four, so I will start as to why it's not a five. I think people need to understand how this book was originally created to understand how the flow of it is a little bit choppy at the very beginning. My suggestion, which was a suggestion from another reviewer, was to get through the first three hours as painful as it seems. Yes, the first 3 to 3 1/2 hours of the book is annoying and childish, but then I think the author style and the characters change, and it becomes much more well, written and flowing as a story. I have to say there were several times I said to myself "screw it, this sucks" but then plow through a little more, and then a little more, and then a little more. I was thoroughly enjoying it by the fourth hour of the book, and after such a long book (43+ hours) it was less than 10% of annoyance and there was a lot of time to enjoy it. the story was unique, and had good character development beyond the fourth hour. I'm not into video, games, and alternate realities, and stuff like that, and this book has a flavor of that, but there is a purpose behind it, which I still have not learned being halfway through the second book. the second book I think is better than the first
Just a point, someone posted that there isn't a second audiobook, but there is! It is called "Fae and Fare"

Disappointed
Revisado: 07-08-23
Love the other books, but this book was fractured and had gaps between each chapter. I thought I purchased an edited version of the book. Good premise, good conclusion, just 'fractured' in the story

As others mentioned, the story just took a turn and got weird. I loved the story until this last book. No desire to even read another one if one is written in this series.

Historia
For years, Glen Cook's Black Company series has built a major audience among fantasy fans. Told from the "worm's-eye" view of the soldiers and functionaries who fight in the trenches of vast sorceress wars, this epic has riveted a generation of readers. If the Joseph Heller of Catch-22 were to tell the story of The Lord of the Rings, it might read like the Black Company books.

Huge Fan, but this was a disappointment
Revisado: 06-15-22
The storyline here is one that seems to focus more on explaining away all of the legends and religious myths, but what it does is introduces an over-complexity that quite honestly does not make sense. Cook seemed to want to just wrap this one up without a cohesive conclusion. By far, the weakest of all books of his.

Lackluster at best
Revisado: 11-02-18
I was really disappointed in this book by Robin Hobb. Quite honestly, it was just ‘boring’ and just not an exciting story. Sure there were parts that were good, but most of it was very ho-hum. I considered simply stopping the book and started something else, but I simply hate doing that. I was happy when it was over.

Change the speed on your device!
Revisado: 09-01-18
I originally gave this book very poor reviews due to the narration. However, I think the recording is flawed… At least I am giving the narrator the benefit of the doubt that it was. I put my Audible settings at 1.25 speed rather than 1.0. It’s a slower speed, the narration was horrendous. Long, drawn out syllables. I can only imagine that it was recorded incorrectly. 1.25 may seem slightly fast, but absolutely more correct speed for narration. The narrator (at the speed) did a fine job.
The Story itself was pretty good, not the authors best work, but it entertained. I’m looking forward to the second book has the first book in the series seem to end without much of a conclusion.

Loved It!
Revisado: 01-17-18
Would you listen to Blood Song again? Why?
I typically am not one to listen again to books until after a long time, but this one is already in my queue as soon as Book 2 and 3 are released in English.
What did you like best about this story?
The plot and storyline were very well done. I highly recommend The Lady of Crows (0.5) even though it is short, it ties to this story very well
What does Steven Brand bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Excellent performance by Steven Brand. Although it is harder to differentiate characters like other performers, Brand brings an intensity to the characters that makes them real on their own.
Any additional comments?
When are books 2 and 3 being released in English??

David Hair did a fantastic job weaving a complex web of story lines into one. This last book showed that Hair had planned his work out in a clear way that still is very rich in its storytelling. Nick Podehl is a master great job all around!
