Historia
You wouldn't believe me if I told you... Richard Kinners is prepared for a fresh beginning and moves to the tranquil, enigmatic town of Elder Creek. However, upon his arrival, he quickly realizes that things aren't quite as they appear. The neighbours seem to conceal more than they reveal, and initial impressions can be misleading. Richard is about to discover that he has encountered far more than he bargained for.

Disabled Native Girl Chosen One
Revisado: 04-28-25
N. B I received a free copy of this book via freeaudiobookcodes.com. I enjoyed this one. It's a mix of scifi/fantasy/horror with some native american/first nations characters. Interesting take on vampires as well. My biggest issue is that the little boy seemed much more important to the mute native girl before basically being dropped from the story. I wish there had been a better resolution to that relatiobship. Also, the narrator was quite good and included some sound effects and such that added atmosphere.

Historia
Rachel Yoder never imagined that her life would take the turn that it did. Being a plus-sized woman in the Amish community made her stand out from the rest of her family as well as the other Amish women in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania. As she began experiencing some mild flirting from non-Amish men who patronized her family market, where she worked, Rachel came to other realizations.

A little lacking in credibility even for erotica
Revisado: 04-25-25
N.B. I received a free copy from freeaudiobookcodes.com. This was a quick listen and had some interesting choices. Some of the choices seemed out of place even for erotica. The amish family of the main character seemed far more accepting than I would expect, for instance. It seems like this is meant to be the first in a series and there may be more in future entries to further that development. It seems like the amish family had adopted the main character unbeknownst to her and it's implied that that is why they're more accepting of her choices, but I don't buy it. Not bad overall, but nothing really outstanding, either.

Historia
Missionary Diplomacy illuminates the crucial place of religion in nineteenth-century American diplomacy. From the 1810s through the 1920s, Protestant missionaries positioned themselves as key experts in the development of American relations in Asia, Africa, the Pacific, and the Middle East. Missionaries served as consuls, translators, and occasional trouble-makers who forced the State Department to take actions it otherwise would have avoided. Yet as decades passed, more Americans began to question the propriety of missionaries' power.

N.B. I received a free copy of this book via freeaudiobookcodes.com. I really enjoyed this book. It was very informative and I hadn't realized how much missionaries, especially Protestant missionaries, had to do with American foreign relations and various world events of the 19th century.

Monotonous Narrator
Revisado: 04-17-25
N.B. I received a free copy via freeaudiobookcodes.com. I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator as he was too monotone and the dialogue portion was quite difficult to follow as the narrator didn't distinguish between the two characters except via terse character names before their portion. Additionally, there were sections where the narrator just kept saying "greek" or "jew" that seemed to be out of place entirely, but unsure if that's an issue with the translation or the narration.

Simplistic even for kid's book
Revisado: 03-23-25
N.B. I received a free copy of this book via freeaudiobookcodes.com. It seems a bit too simplistic even for a kid's book. Also, it cuts off right before the plot comes to a climax. Felt like it was mostly superfluous with little substance. That said, I think kids (especially ones obsessed with Minecraft) would enjoy it.

Lost and Confused
Revisado: 03-05-25
N.B. I received a free copy of this book via freeaudiobookcodes.com. I was really lost and confused throughout this book. I'm wondering if I'd be less so if I'd read the prior books in the series. I really enjoyed the narrator and she kept me going until the end despite me feeling put off by the content.

Historia
Then fabric of society had come unraveled. Neighbor fought neighbor despite the threats lurking just beyond the gates of their neighborhood. Despite the best efforts of Dean, Emmy, Grayson and the other members of the Friday Night Club, the self-appointed leaders of Malibu Country lost their focus. Behind the gates, a handful of vocal of residents, those running the neighborhood's homeowner's association, claimed the ultimate authority over their neighbors. The rule of law, as well as common decency, was cast aside. Tensions boiled over with devastating results.

Last in the series
Revisado: 02-17-25
N.B. I received a free copy of this book via freeaudiobookcodes.com. It was the final entry in the series, but I've not read any of the others. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. That just may be a combination of me not being a huge fan of the genre combined with this being the 4th entry in the series. I did enjoy the news sources after that showed the thoughts and reasoning behind the author's choices in the story. As someone in cybersecurity, a lot of it rings true as a possibility.

Didn't really capture me much
Revisado: 02-10-25
N.B. I received a free copy of this book via freeaudiobookcodes.com. I almost gave up on this one as it wasn't capturing me or the wife. I'd decided to give it until the end of the day once I hit 20-25%.right around the 30% mark at the end of the evening, it piqued my interest with the steampunk animals. There wasn't much more until much later. I didn't care for the romance itself and the "interesting" parts for me were few and far between, but it was enough for me to finish the book.

Really felt like Frankenmuth
Revisado: 01-31-25
N.B. I received a free copy of this book via freeaudiobookcodes.com. I've read a few of the books in this overall series, but this is the first Frankenmuth one. I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It seemed more hopeful of humanity and really nailed Frankenmuth quite well. I've been to Frankenmuth a few times, so it was easy to picture all the places in and around that were described, which I think was helpful for me to enjoy the book.

Weird Cuts
Revisado: 01-27-25
There are some weird cuts where sentences just are cut off. I went to the library and grabbed a physical copy of the book only to discover that these cuts are the text and not an issue with the audiobook.
