the narrator was awful
Revisado: 10-01-24
I feel like the book was probably headed in a good direction as I've recently started delving into F.M. books. I couldn't get further then the 9th chapter because the narrator is so terrible.

Historia
When Anna Hartley’s husband, Henry, calls her with a terrible, guilty confession, she can’t believe what she hears. It has to be a bad joke—the mild, predictable artist she married would never hurt a fly, let alone commit murder. But her confusion turns to horror when police find his body washed up on the banks of the Rio Grande.

Historia
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

Didn't hook me like most DeMille books.
Revisado: 01-09-24
I didn't hate it but it wasn't one of my favorites. I appreciate the work Mr DeMille puts in to every novel and understand that not every single one is going to grab my interest. Also, really dislike Taylor in this book

Struggled through almost half of this book before deciding I'm never getting my time back so why not just move on. The story was slow and could have been much shorter. The narrator unfortunately made it worse for me and I threw in the towel.

She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.
